Good Flavor, Low Glycemic Index
Protein drinks are really personal. No two people seem to agree on the same thing. That being said, I'm not going to say that everyone will love this powder. I will say, however, that I'm quite impressed with it. I was specifically looking for a protein drink with a low glycemic index. I'm not a triathelete or even someone who works out at the gym everyday for two hours at a time, so I don't want all the added sugars. Plus, I'm targeting a particular health problem related to higher blood glucose (not diabetes, though I think it's a similar diet solution.)Aria is Desginer Whey's offering with a low GI value. Because Designer Whey is such a popular brand, I figured I couldn't go wrong. I'm glad I gave it a shot, because I really like it. The flavor is good. (Can anyone really say that a protein drink is fabulous? If you can, we must have very different ideas of what a yummy chocolate drink would taste like...) I mix it with water, not milk or any other flavor- and calorie-adding liquids. I also like to throw in a banana and some ice for texture and some added fruit in my day. I find this to be a great start to my day to jumpstart my metabolism and to give me some needed nutrients. The powder blends in well. (I use a blender, but it's fairly fine, so one of those shaker things would probably work.) You end up with some heavier ingredients down at the bottom, but it's never clumpy or grainy. (Just swirl the last bit of liquid around to get all the goodies.)I definitely recommend Aria, even if you're not really watching your GI (though most of us should). I actually like it better than Designer Whey's other chocolate protein powder.

It's okay, but they need to work on texture.
I bought this, because I am trying to get a variety of protein shakes formeal replacements to help me lose some weight. I'm not an athlete looking to bulk up,or a weight lifter trying to pack in protein.I liked that this was a low glycemic index item. That is very important. But honestly - why is the drink so thin Aria? The taste is very similar to a plain glass of chocolate milk, with similar consistency.I mixed mine with water, as I prefer, due to lactose sensitivity.About half way through my serving, I added some Sweetleaf Stevia Chocolate flavored dropsto try and help it on the flavor boost. It didn't do all that much, but did add a littlesweetness to what is a pretty bland flavor.Of course, flavor is subjective, so that's just adding my two cents on that part.It was gone too soon, and I never felt like I really had anything to eat.It is NOT filling in any way, and not really satisfying. Most likely, it is better for you than some breakfasts you could be eating. If you had a gastric bypass, this might be okay too.Other than that, I think they could do a whole lot better.I hope they find a thickener for the product. It results in a shake that isjust too runny to be satisfying. This is the second item from Designer Whey thathas been disappointing, so I think I'lll keep looking for a good protein shake.

Tastes pretty much like chocolate milk, a little sweeter than I'd prefer
Of the protein powders I've tried, this is my favorite (I've gone through most options they carry at trader joes, includign the Aria Vanilla which I didn't love, as well as the Sun Warrior Vanilla that is sold here on amazon). In the end, this Aria Chocolate is my preferred powder. I have no idea why its marketed as a womens protein - my boyfriend drinks it as well when I buy it.I usually use a mason jar to mix my protein shakes, and find that mixing them at night before I go to bed gives them a good amount of time to really disolve. I just shake it up and stick it in the fridge, then, when I wake up in the AM and drink before the gym there isn't any undissolved powdery chunks in my shake.I'm a repeat buyer of the Aria chocolate so in the end I would recommend it to others.

Is soy GMO?
I have no idea and I'm too lazy to do the research. There are differing opinions about every single thing we consume and it can get annoying. That being said, I usually make a protein shake/smoothie (what's the difference between these again?) for breakfast and I've tried both the chocolate and vanilla. No offensive tastes and they mix well with other ingredients in a blender. It says "Women's Protein" on the label, and I'm a sucker for gender-specific items for some reason. My typical recipe: 8oz of water, 2 scoops of Aria, 1tbl of chia seeds, 1tbl of flax seeds, 1tbl of hemp oil, 1 tbl of coconut oil (my spoon is super dirty by this point), a handful of spinach, some berries, and half a frozen banana. This is so crazy filling that I'm not hungry till at least 4hrs later. The taste is pretty excellent, too.I might change to hemp protein though if I ever buckle down and do the research about soy.

dissolves easily without a blender
I use this protein powder with milk and cereal as breakfast. It dissolves much easier in milk with just a few swirl than our previous whey protein powder. The ingredient lists corn fiber, maybe that's why it dissolves well. So far that's what I like most about this powder. The chocolate flavor is mild, and not overpowered with sweetener. And it doesn't make the blended drink any thicker that before blending. The product contains both soy and whey proteins in isolates and concentrates, which is more important to me since I don't want to the burden of digesting excessive protein concentrates. Overall, like!

Tastes yucky, but works?
How can you really tell if your protein is working? This was my first time taking protein, and here's what I noticed- I was a lot less sore the next day if I took protein immediately after working out, which is nice because it allowed less resting between workouts. I guess my muscle tone increased while I was taking this (I took it for about a month), but that could also be due to working out consistently for a month. I also notice that when I take protein in the mornings, I have less sweets cravings. This stuff tastes pretty bad mixed with water, but hey, it's a protein drink, not a milkshake.
