broke
I've had this for 9 years and sparsely used it. I was moving it out of my shop and i noticed two large cracks in the casting. It was barely used. Don't waste your money on this, you ARE buying cheap trash, so dont pay a premium for the Jet name on it.---update: Jet actually stood behind this tool and sent a new one. Props to them for at least standing behind their tools.

It worked great for what I wanted
I needed a quieter way to do some leather work tasks and bought the Jet 1 ton press. It worked great for what I wanted, but the working areas were a little smaller than I'd like. I wanted a little more depth between the ram and the back of the press, and I also wanted a little more height between the ram and the table, so I started looking at 3 ton arbor presses. Shipping was a little more than I wanted to pay on the 3 ton versions. Another drawback to the 3 ton versions for me were the weight. Since I move mine around a bit (clamping it to a bench when I need to use it) I liked the lighter weight of the 2 ton press verses the bigger ones. Most of my tasks with this press involve punching holes or shapes in leather, stamping leather, and setting rivets/or eyelets. I don't really use the included anvil for my tasks, opting instead to use a flat piece of 1/2 inch thick steel for a base or sometimes just a flat board when I don't want to risk my cutting tools going though the leather into the steel. One negative I have, is that my set screw on the ram came cross threaded a bit. Had to find a replacement set screw.

Total failure on Jet and Amazon's Parts
I purchased this item 11 months ago while I was in the process of rearranging my garage. Unfortunately, I had some personal issues that put a halt to that project. I just got around to restarting the project today and finally unpacked the press to take measurements so I can build a stand for it. Boy was I dismayed. The frame is entirely cast iron. The casting is the worst I have ever seen in my life and I am a Mechanical Engineer. Not to mention it was not packaged correctly for shipment and the front right leg casting is broken and all the bolts for adjusting the ram are bent. I expected a lot better quality from Jet and better packaging for shipping from Amazon. This is a total piece of junk, not to mention, unusable in its current state. I would not recommend this press to anyone unless you like junk. I would have given it zero stars if that had been a choice.
