Perfect Length for 8ft Door.

Arrived on time. That allowed me to repair the doors the next day. As recommended in a you tube video the thinner gage (3/32) cable fit he groves of the roller spools so much better. Yet the cables are strong enough to lift the 16 ft door.

Bought this to replace torsion cables for my 7ft-height garage door. One of the original cables broke. Original cable measured 8’6” from end-to-end. Package stated 8’8” length and 3/32” diameter. Diameter was correct, it fit perfectly into the starting notch on the cable drum which holds the end with the ferrule. Diameter was also correct for the grooves on the drum which hold the cable itself. This is important because most of these cables on Amazon are 1/8” diameter and won’t fit the cable drum starting notch. This one fit the drum perfectly, but the lengths were way off. Had it been 8’8” like the package said, it would have been close enough. I was going to replace both so the tension would be even. Unfortunately, one was 3.5” longer than the other. Their lengths were 8’10” and 9’1” - not even close to package specs. The process to replace the cables is straightforward enough, plenty of online videos showing how. The real difficulty is finding precut cables, with loops and ferrule stops in place, that are actually the right length. I’ve used Prime Line for other home DIY repairs. Very disappointed in the lack of quality control on this item.

My original cables were fraying so I needed to replace them. I was able to do it myself with these new cables. They seem to be identical to original cables and of high quality. They went on fairly easily. My biggest problem was getting the tension to be the same on both. I did not want to mess with the large springs on the door as they can be very dangerous to mess with. Perseverance was necessary but I eventually got equal tension on both and my door works perfectly. Highly recommended if you are fairly handy with tools.

I ordered these to replace mine that had prematurely become frayed due to rubbing. It was recommended to me to get 3/32 instead of 1/8 so they wouldn't rub when winding up. The bottom loop was almost twice as big as the original that I had. When installing, the loop came off twice before I could get enough tension on the cable to hold it. This is a safety issue, if you were to release the spring tension with the cable loop off, you could be seriously injured. Otherwise, the product works great.

These cables are just a tiny bit thicker than my old cables. I think 1/8 inch cables would have been to thick for the grooves in my drums. The looped end is a little large because it is a universal product. This is not a problem if you have a 2nd person to hold it during installation. I didn't have have anyone so I clamped the cable taut near the top or the rail with vise grips then released it after i got it mostly wound on drum. There are a lot of how to videos on youtube.

Without opening the package, I could see that the size of the loops was significantly different. I was given a full refund price by Amazon.

Fits my garage door perfectly and does the job. Went to my local home improvement store first and the ones they have were too thick, and selection was poor. Glad I found these.

These cables didn't improve anything too loose and pops off.. I just went back to the old cables that work fine.. I can't get my money back. Bad experience. 👎 I don't recommend buying. Money wasted
