Birds unsure of this suet
I started putting out suet cakes on the ledge of my apartment balcony, not accessible to squirrels or other rodents. I was just buying the basic cakes they sell at the grocery store, so I bought these to try something special and different. I guess I shouldn't have been surprised since the description is literally "suet dough," but there are no visible seeds in this at all. It's like a peanut butter cake. The birds definitely aren't as interested in it as they were in the more seedy suet from the grocery store. My dog, on the other hand REALLY REALLY REALLY wants to eat this. Too bad it's a 4 pack. I have a bird feeder now that has 2 cages on either end for suet. I have a grocery store suet cake in one cage and one of these cakes in the other cage. The grocery store suet cake is much more popular, so it will take me a long time to go through these 4 cakes. Definitely will not purchase again.

Stale
Now that I read the low score ratings, I see this item is often sub-par. You'd think the company would do some QA/QC.You know how you can tell a chocolate bar is stale as soon as you unwrap it and look at it? Turns out it's the same with this product. I have purchased these locally and they usually look a little oily on the surface. When I unwrapped one of these, it looked dry and crumbly on the edges. I live in the boonies with tons of birds around my house. The block has been in the feeder for a few days and the birds have hardly touched it. I was going to return these but I'll just break them up and leave them on the ground for the squirrels or deer instead. I won't purchase these again.

Can't run out of this.
My birds let me know if this isn't put out promptly in the morning. Have to take it inside at night due to the marauding bandits, raccoons, getting it down, opening it and devouring the suet. Two Woodpeckers had a haymaker over it yesterday. They are serious about their suet! One actually seems to sing to it while munching away. Chickadees and cardinals like it too. The Tufted Titmouse are more predominant in Spring and make the most mess of it, but everything that drops to the ground are swiftly recouped by larger birds unable to properly approach it. All in all, this is a must addition to my bird diners.

Zero stars
A lot of birds come to my balcony and they don’t even notice this thing. I’ve had other Sue it up that it was so popular they made a giant mess. I decided to try it again with a different kind than maybe wasn’t so messy this is like basically have a nothing out there at all to total waste of money

Birds love it!
Decided to try this after reading all the reviews. Birds absolutely love it, especially woodpeckers. I had no idea I had so many different winter birds living in my yard. The price is a bit high though, its cheaper in stores.

The birds love this - too much!
This is better than any other suet brick I've bought. I've gotten suet and seed blocks that just hang there. This one was gone in one day, and brought birds I had never seen before. I put another one up on a tree because some of the bigger birds had trouble with the one hanging from the shephard's hook and that was gone even faster. But it was so fun to watch! I knew I had a couple of blue jays in the yard, but it turns out I had 5, all at once. I also had Northern Flicker, red-bellied woodpecker, downy woodpecker, and the sparrows liked it too, unfortunately (I was trying to get something they wouldn't like! They eat at my feeders all day long). The one on the tree was also enjoyed by squirrels and chipmunks. This is a great find for the larger backyard birds.

birds and squirrels are happy
Since the pandemic started, the store where I used to buy suet has rarely had any (for some reason). I can't find the brands I used to buy anywhere else, so I tried a few kinds from Amazon. This is the only one the birds and squirrels like, that isn't horribly greasy, and that doesn't result in shells all over my balcony (because there aren't any in this flavor). I put out three at a time, and they barely last two days, so I buy packages of 12 . The critters in my neighborhood are happy now.

Stale product - crumbles and dried out
I am disappointed with this product, or rather, with the lack of freshness of this product. Dried out suet is something most birds will avoid, plus it's a mess to clean up later....
