Remnants of the Gods...Great read!!!
I have picked up several of Erich von Daniken's books for my Kindle HDX, and I really enjoy his great works. He offers a great many things to think about, and the topic is extremely interesting. There is, in fact, so very much that we are clueless about, when it comes to our extreme past history, and the evidence that exists to this day, and that is being found more and more as we speak, points to beings that did not just come out of the trees or caves and decided to build these things we're finding buried under more modern, yet still ancient creations. Man, as we are aware of, just did not possess the skills, nor the tools necessary to accomplish these great feats, and thus, it forces us to pose the question; "Who designed and built these awesome structures that we are finding...and how???" Was it Aliens, Giants, Gods, or whatever? We have no clue thus far, so we can only speculate, but it was definitely not cavemen that accomplished these things...This we do know! If you're into history such as this, then I highly recommend reading these works by Erich von Daniken. They read fast, because he keeps you deep into it from the beginning to the end. Great food for thought!

A pretty good start....
Erich Von Daniken is always at the upper end of the answer spectrum when it comes to questions like, "Who built the pyramids?" In his book "Remnants of the Gods," Van Daniken gives a lot of detail to support his thesis that everything interesting on planet Earth has been built by or for our alien forefathers. Here, Van Daniken takes us to what he calls "the stone age," and explains how primitive humans could not have selected, moved, properly dressed stones weighing many tons, but the aliens could and did. He starts with Malta and then takes us all over the world. The photographs could be better, but it's a book written by an imaginative, thinking everyman who stands academia on its head, and takes great pleasure in doing so. His analysis of the mysteries of the Giza pyramids is substantial and provocative. Whether our alien forefathers really came and did all this, or perhaps just the fact that ancient peoples seem so very connected to them, makes "Remnants of the God" a great and worthwhile read.

TREAT THEM KINDLY; WE HAVE MUCH TO LEARN!
Erich von Daniken has a way of making his readers 'believers'. I've kept an open mind regarding visitors from other locations in our universe. It is hard to believe that anyone, in view of innumerable cave art renditions, books, articles and accounts, can yet believe that we here on the planet Earth are the only ones capable of any intelligence. There is a great deal of evidence to support the fact that another, if not greater, intelligence exists and existed centuries ago, capable of constructing walls, statues and buildings, that we with our technology can still only dream of matching. Transportation is but one of many mysteries to be solved. 'They' did it, but who are 'they' and where did 'they' come from? Fascinating!!

Great for about anyone
I got this book for my boyfriend, who really introduced me to ideas of ancient aliens. I listened to Erich Von Daniken on Coast to Coast on night traveling, and he was really great, so I decided I'd buy the book as a surprise for my boyfriend. It's great, and full of pictures. Something you can take a lot of time looking into, or just a fun coffee table book. It's cool to have around the house, especially if you're like my boyfriend, and have a few beers and you start talking to the right person about things over a lot of peoples' heads- you know, aliens coming to Earth and building a bunch of things, etc, etc- and then you can show people and not sound like a COMPLETE crazy. It's a great book for the right type of person. :)

A picture is worth a 1,000 words.
I've have been a Von Daniken fan since Chariots of the Gods was first published. I have purchased many of his books and have enjoyed them but felt his only shortcoming was that he did not include pictures of some of the great things he was describing. Can't say that about Remnants of the Gods, which contains pages upon pages of pictures. It made me feel as though I was finally able to see many of the things he peaked my curiosity with in earlier books. He also presents us with a lot of new material about how ancient cities were located relative to one another. The book is a "Must Have" for any Von Daniken fan.

Daniken is doing again...
Daniken was one of the very first authors to make readers question our past and the way "archaeologists" of the 18th and 19th century analyse and presented findings from antiguity. Looking at ancient monuments and other findings under the light of the 20th century knowledge of science and in particular of space travel, gives us a different perspective to our origins and events of the past 5,000 plus years. He is giving more evidence of the past history and origins of our civilisation. Indeed worth reading. A lot of food for thought...

Alternative history or real history?
Raises important questions on the origins of men and the foundations of ancient history revealing recently discovered geometrical facts about the Greek civilization that cannot be explained by mere coincidence but rather by modern methods of surveying. It also expands upon the thesis that the pyramids were built before the flood by engineers and architects with highly advanced knowledge that clearly surpassed the capabilities of the Egyptian civilization at the time of construction according to Egyptologists. A must read for those interested in the ancient-astronaut theory.

Well worth a read!!!
Arrived way before the expected date, which is always nice. The book itself is lovely to look at. Beautifully made and printed. As you begin to read it, it somehow makes sense. It's full of strange theories and questions but it makes more sense to me than religion. But hey, that's just me. Just buy this book. It's very, very interesting.
