Saves money
If it were up to hot tub dealers, they would drain your wallet by selling you too many chemicals. Thanks to this kit, I only use as much bromine as needed to maintain my hot tub. Save yourself some time and money and stop using cheap inaccurate test strips. With my sensitive skin, it's the only way I can accurately control my water quality. Reading the included manual will provide you real results and help you better understand water chemistry. Use this kit and you will quickly learn how bad the instructions are provided by spa dealers.Pros: Very accurate and easy to use, saves you money.Cons: None

Much Better than Test Strips
Before getting to my review, I want to point out that this kit (K-2106) is for bromine only, not both chlorine and bromine as the title suggest, unless there was a recent change. However, the manufacturer's website still lists the K-2106 kit as bromine. K-2006 would be the same kit but for chlorine: Taylor Complete FAS-DPD Pool Water Test Kit K-2006.The product description refers to commercial pools and spas, but don't think that this product is not needed for home use. Test strips are not very precise and it can be hard to match the strip colors to the readings printed on the container. To keep your water safe, you need to use a high quality reagent test kit such as this one.I have been using this kit for a year for maintaining the water quality in my 500-gallon hot tub. The water quality has never been better or more consistent over time since I switched from test strips to this test kit. I was hesitant about buying this because it's so much more expensive than test strips, but after a year of weekly testing I still have half to three-quarters of the test reagents remaining. Also, poor water quality can reduce the life of your pumps and heaters, so in the long run the price is well worth it.The product description doesn't tell you a lot about the test kit. It includes four groups of tests: Bromine, pH (plus acid demand and base demand tests), Total Alkalinity, and Calcium Hardness. Simple, easy to follow instructions are printed inside the lid of the durable plastic box. For each test, you just fill the vial with the correct amount of water, add the specified drops of reagent, and swirl. Then you match the color (for pH) or add a second reagent until the color changes. This kit includes a water balance calculator. This is three discs connected in the center. You turn each disc to the pH, hardness, and alkalinity readings, then find the saturation index based on the water temperature. The saturation index should fall between 0.5 and -0.5 to prevent cloudy water, scale formation, or corrosion. If your water is outside of this range, check the treatment tables in the booklet included with the kit to determine how to correct the water quality. This 64-page booklet is also a great introduction to water chemistry and pool and spa sanitation. To summarize, if you want to have the highest-quality water in order to keep your pool or spa safe and to prevent corrosion of your equipment, you need a high-quality liquid test kit, not cheap test strips. It takes a little more effort, but it will guard your health and your investment.

Great Kit, Easy to Use, Accurate.
I read somewhere in my research (poolspaforum) that this was the kit to buy when trying to get the hang of testing the water of our new Hot Tub. We use Bromine, not Cholrine, for our Hot Tub. This kit is perfect for that application. The pH Color Scale also allows for accurate pH readings (which are often hard to gauge using a test-strip). So glad I made this purchase. The guide that it comes with is extremely helpful. Got the hang of it after the first time, and now I can confidently read my water levels and take corrective action. I really enjoy knowing, clearly, what my water chemistry is. I still use test strips for the quick and easy, daily reads. But weekly, use this kit to make sure everything is balanced. I also purchased 2 extra Taylor Test Tubes so that I can easily retrieve all the water samples to complete all 4 tests in one shot without having to run back and forth from the hot tub repeatedly. This was especially helpful in the winter. Great Kit, worth every penny. Reagents appear to last a long time, I have run dozens and dozens of tests using this kit, and am not even close to running out of anything.

Nice test kit
Nice test kit...but please note, it is for bromine only, not both chlorine and bromine. I really needed a chlorine testing kit and missed this detail when I purchased it.

Awesome kit
I love this test kit. It may seem intimidating at first, but it's actually quite easy. You add drops at a defined amount, then a different chemical one drop at a time until it changes colors. Gentle mixing after each drop. You count number of drops and multiply, typically by 10 unless otherwise specified. Again, it's much easier than it sounds. If you like science at all, you will love this. It's so much more accurate than strips ! Well worth the cost. Then just order the bottles of chemicals you need. If you have a hot tub, this is an absolute must !!!

pH indicator had leaked during shipping
Came with a cardboard piece inside that almost seemed intentionally added to absorb the inevitably leaky bottle. A small amount of the red pH indicator reagent had leaked, staining the manual a slight pink on certain pages.Everything seemed to work though just fine. Expensive for what it is, but it gave me peace of mind to finally test the spa water accurately.

Came from Amato Industries, Inc
I purchased this kit from Amato on May 21, 2013. I have had trouble testing my spa using the chemicals so I contacted Taylor Technologies and by checking the lot numbers of the reagents I was told that two of the reagents in the kit needed to be replaced since they were too old to work and several other reagents are found to be over the one year guarantee that Taylor gives to there products, though they are still usable.I am very upset that Amato would sell me a kit with old and outdated items within. I have spent many frustrating times trying to calibrate my spa and have just now found out that it was the old reagents in the kit I purchased from them that has caused all of my frustration. If I had known at the time that the reagents were outdated when I purchased the kit I would have certainly returned it then, but that was not possible. I made the false assumption that I was purchasing a quality product from a quality company.Amazon's reputation has been dinged by a sub-standard supplier. Otherwise, I love Amazon and have purchased many products with them and have never, until now had reason for complaint.
