The Blue Max Airmen Volume 5: German Airmen Awarded the Pour le Mérite: Manfred von Richthofen

This is a fabulous book! I enjoy studying World War One aviation and Manfred Von Richthofen, the Red Baron has always been fascinating. I own many books about the Red Baron and I thought I had seen and read everything and didn't need this book but I was very wrong! This is the best book I have ever read about Manfred Von Richthofen. It is superbly written and thoroughly researched by one of the foremost if not leading aero historian with regard to World War One German aces. The design and layout of the book is by Jack Herris, the color profiles are superbly executed by Jim Miller. Thomas Genth, Terry Phillips, and Greg VanWyngarden contributed their expertise to this volume. That gives you an idea of the amount of scholarship, research, dedication, and passion that has gone into putting this book together! It is well worth it's price tag! I strongly recommend the first four volumes of this fabulous series as well as this one! No aviation library should be without these essential histories! Lance J. Bronnenkant, PhD and his contributors are to be congratulated and thanked for a valuable preservation of aviation history! This is a fantastic book, it's filled with photographs that I've never seen before. Well researched and a very interesting read. Definitely buy it of you are interested in Manfred. It's one of my favorites.

I was looking at several secondhand books on the red baron, and read reviews of them here on Amazon.One reviewer mentioned this book & how nothing compared to it. Could not find a old copy of it but Amazon had it new.Not cheap but its very informative with quality photos, & much detailed information. I don't own any other books on the baron, but this fine example might be all I need. Impressive Book, so glad I took time to research other book reviews of the subject here on Amazon, to find this gem.

Benefits to a certain extent from the latest information on von Richthoven and his aircraft. Biographical information is solid. Marking interpretation seems sound. I have three of this series and intend to purchase them all eventually. Paper isn't the highest quality, so I will revisit my review in a few decades to report if it has faded :)

Wenn Sie glauben, Sie wissen schon alles über Manfred Freiherr von Richthofen, dass sie schon alle Bilder kennen? Dann ist dieses Buch genau richtig... denn es enthält eben doch noch neue, unbekannte Bilder. Und wie immer hervorragend von Dr. Bronnenkant recherchiert.

Phantastische Buchreihe! Sehr zu empfehlen, wenn man sich für die Thematik des Luftkrieges im 1. Weltkrieg interessiert!!!!Macht Lust auf mehr.
