We're Different We're the Same (Sesame Street) Paperback BobbiJaneKates RandomHouseBooksforYoungReaders Review: Beautifully written, wonderfully illustrated - We’re Different, We’re the Same (Sesame Street), written by Bobbi Jane Kates and illustrated by Joe Mathieu, is a beautifully illustrated children’s book that carries a wonderful message for anyone lucky enough to read it. I purchased and read this book to my two early elementary grandsons. The story is a wonderful discussion starter to broach the topics of diversity and inclusion. While the storyline addresses everyone’s similarities, it does so in a way that celebrates the differences we each possess. For instance, everyone has a nose that works the same way, but they are all different shapes, sizes, and colors. This well thought out book is designed to keep people together, not divide them and is meant for a young audience that just may be the people who actually achieve this lofty goal. I did enjoy sharing this story with my grandsons, having the deep conversation it invoked, and I do recommend it! Review: My kiddo’s favorite book - This is my toddlers favorite book ❤️ he loves pointing to his nose, eyes, mouth and skin as we read the book and he also loves finding Elmo. I love the message of this book celebrating diversity while recognizing how we are similar in so many ways. The last page always makes me tear up with the line on how rainbows would be boring if they were only green or blue and that what makes a rainbow beautiful is that it has every hue “so aren’t you glad that you look like you?”. I feel like more people in the world should have read this book growing up. Illustrations are so so well done throughout and the messaging again is so thoughtful. It’s a book I really don’t mind (actually love) reading to my son 6+ times a day at his request (again, again, again!).

Perfect Book for Children
Perfect for the world we live in today. Providing knowledge for a toddler on loving one another and accepting differences. This book is wonderful for an individual toddler, at school, library reads, etc. They need more books like this. Very, very pleased with my purchase and will be purchasing again in the future. Pricing was affordable and so worth it. Delivery was right on time and very pleased.

Board book is shortened version!!!!
We have the hardback version with paper pages & my 1 year old absolutely loves it but struggles to “help” turn the pages without ripping or wrinkling them. Bought the board book version for her & also as a gift for a niece, and the board book version is shortened! It’s very good quality and vivid pictures but I do wish that the end where it says the part “a rainbow would be boring if it were only green or blue, so aren’t you glad you look like you?” would be the full paragraph because it’s my favorite part of the book. Still read this to my baby pretty much daily. Highly recommend.

Great book for very small children - but who is the random monster?
My two year old loves this book. It’s a fantastic way to introduce very small children to the concept that not everyone looks like them. There are some great throwback characters as well that younger kids may not refognize (Barkley, the tweedle bugs, characters I remember from 30 years ago) That being said, there is a weird devil looking (borderline scary-looking) monster, with yellow eyes and pointy, teeth who I don’t recall from Sesame Street at all. My son points to him every time he appears and says “who’s that??” Does anyone know who he is? I’d love to give my kid a straight answer. Edit: I found out his name is Frazzle and his backstory is really sweet and falls right in line with accepting and being cool with physical differences. Nicely done, Sesame Street.

Loved so much we bought as a gift for others. Could use some small improvements!
LOVE the book. So fun, and such a subtle and effective way of celebrating diversity. Only comment is: I feel like some of the facial features are a bit stereotypical. As an ethnically Chinese person it definitely stood out to me that all the yellow-skinned human characters had slanted eyes. While it is somewhat/sometimes accurate, not all of us look like that. I would've appreciated more diversity among the human characters' facial features. Nevertheless, it is such a fun book with delightful illustrations and our daughter loves pointing out the balls, flowers, and dogs in the book!

Kids love this
This was one of my son’s favorite books. I got one for my great niece and she too loved it. They interact with the pages , point to the many different people, and describe what they see. I’d say the best age to give this book would be 3 and 1/2 to 4 years; they will continue reading it for years.
