Awesome, if it lasts.
I love it. Install driver, plug it in, engrave. Simple. They supply a nice selection of ,png files to try and there are millions of free .png images online to choose from. Or you can use original art output from any graphics program saved as a .png file.I played around with depth and intensity but the default depth of 10 with intensity 100 works great for most materials. Especially cork. I found that if you want a large drawing using fine lines looks better and takes less time. Plus it creates less fumes. Large black spaces work the laser head harder and take much longer. This little device is a great entry into laser engraving. I am very happy with it so far. If it lasts a while I will be even happier. The Amazon pic shows a one year warranty and the card (engraved as a test with each one) says if you share your DIY experience the warranty is good for 2 years. My first project will be to laser engrave our family crest into rimmed cork coasters. I also plan to test a method of using black spray paint onto brass dog tags, then burn off a pattern, and finally deep etching the dog tags with acid or electrolysis. UPDATE: It takes about an hour to engrave a 3 inch circle or square pattern. No matter how simple. The coaster took about 40 minutes. The dog tag took under 4 minutes.Dog tags: For the dog tag I used brass blank and polished with brass polish beforehand. I used Valspar black outdoor anti-rust spray pain as the mask and resist for etching. The finest details are preserved.Tips:1. I discovered right away that centering your subject is not that easy since the effective work area is not centered between the feet of the device it is off a bit. Here is the solution: Using a ruler mark and cut a piece of cardboard a bit bigger than the footprint of the device. Start the program and drag the little box position indicator to each of the 4 corners of the effective work space. The laser head will follow the cursor. Mark each laser pinpoint corner location with a pencil. Connect the 4 corners and draw a line diagonally across opposite corners as in the pics. Now you will know exactly where to place your subject for engraving and where the exact center of the work space is.2. At a 60% depth setting the laser will burn through the provided sample cardboard sheets and burn whatever is underneath. My mouse pad has a scar to prove it. The cardboard guide created above will stop the laser from going deeper than you want. I made mine out of brown cardboard but white is better since it will not burn as easily.3. The text input part of the program is buggy and caused exception errors often (latest Windows). If it happens restart the program and try again.4. When changing the size of the image you can enter one dimension hit enter and the other dimension is calculated based on aspect ratio. If you select any button from the options the size goes back to default.5. After your image is burned into the subject be aware there will be varying amounts of black ash in the areas burned. The cork coasters need to be brushed out with soapy water and rinsed. If you rub it with your fingers it will smudge the object. I used the tips of a paint brush to first gently brush out the ash. Then I used a bit of water and dish soap to gently scrub the image with the tips of the brush.6. Mine came well focused. If your subject is taller than the samples provided you will have to either raise the device or refocus the laser. If you don't the image burned will be fuzzy. I chose to leave the focus set and use pieces of cardboard as shown in the pics to raise the whole device so the top of the subject is at the laser focus point.7. IMPORTANT!!! If you get one of these be sure to run it in a room with an exhaust fan or have some other form of ventilation. Some materials give off toxic fumes when burned and believe me it this little device will produce lots of fumes. Cork is said to be non toxic when burned but it still smells like smoke. I placed a box fan in the window to make sure the vapors went outside.UPDATE: If the program crashes the head can go out of calibration with the template. You can use the manual positioning buttons to correct misalignment of the laser head. Use the program Back to Center button then position the beam to the actual center with the buttons on the device. The head gears can slip and try to take the head out of bounds. You can drag the cursor in the program window (no image loaded) to the 4 corners and that will recalibrate the center point ftmp but some fine tuning may be required as above. So far a few days and hours of use. Still happy.

Literally out of box and engraving in minutes.
All i have to say so far. I opened the box, installed the guard, installed software and engraved a custom image. Done.

Cool toy for the price
Cool toy for the price, but does have limitations. Does well on line drawings, but grey-scale images are difficult. Will definitely cut paper on higher settings and can go into wood about 1/16 of an inch. Print area is small but worked well to make Christmas ornaments. Also marked some tools with ID tags. Print speed is slow, but fine for its print area. Ours had a stripped screw in the carriage that caused it to bind, but we were able to fix that. Overall, a good entry or test unit to see if you want to invest in one of the bigger units. No regrets...

Nice little fun machine!
I bought this for my boyfriend for Christmas. We have only got to the testing phase so far. It works great! It was easy to figure out. Make sure you have all your drivers updated, and that you have the current software To support the device. He is happy with it and excited to start creating his own materials.

Awesome Laser Engraver
This little 3w laser engraver is awesome! It arrived today and within 10 minutes of opening the box I was marking on some metal business cards I also ordered with this laser engraver. I plan to build a jig to make marks more repeatable and get different sized stock, but for my first try I just went freehand that is why every image and text on the little test card I attached an image of is crooked. I plan to use this to make electrical enclosure name plates so the business cards I ordered will not be large enough but now I have plenty of test plates to hone in the settings as the manual supplied has a lot to be desired in the way of help. But that shouldn’t keep you from ordering this laser engraver it is awesome for removing paint off of a metal plate and I am sure it is more than powerful to leave a mark on wood or plastic if that is what you plan to do. All in all for $130 and 1 day of waiting this is a great little laser engraver

Lasted about 4 hours total
The unit lasted about a week with less than one hour a day use. Company stands behind their product. Refund issues

Works on toast!
Works right out of the box, although the software could be more user friendly. Cheap enough to buy for shenanigans and general Tom Foolery. Will burn just about any high contrast .png I've attempted. Clip art style pictures work best.
