No more peels!
Stops peeling paint just like it says. Refurbished an outdoor sign that was severely weathered and insect damaged. Sinks into the cracks and pores and stays. New paint adheres very well. After several months of winter snow and ice build up it's still working perfectly.

This stuff works!!
I used this a year ago to paint old peeling painted 2x4s in my screen room. The wood is 20 years old and the latex paint had peeled and flaked everywhere. After scraping, sanding and hosing down the wood, I let it dry and used PEEL STOP. It looked great then and a year later, still looks freshly painted!

Not a replacement for sanding
I needed this for an old wooden cabinet that had very old (lead?) paint that had alligatored in some places. I read that this product would allow me to fill in the surface and make it smooth and avoid having to do alot of (If any) sanding. Well that was mostly not the case. In one area it worked well but in other areas it didn’t really do that much. I applied numerous coats per the directions and even applied it very thick. I researched more and found that sanding can help between costs. Advice: don’t use an electric palm sander. It a couple areas it pulled the stuff off and I discovered it was basically like a rubbery glue after it has dried overnight. Correcting those pealed areas was not fun. In the end I realized that pre-sanding was necessary and probably would have made a big difference had I done it before applying this stuff. But since paint was not peeling, I’ll admit I was trying to cut a few corners. :-/

A Great Primer
I used it for outside Heat Pump before painting, and then used on chevrolet car emblems, before painting gold - looks terrific. This stuff is triple thick for a better hold. Use it as a primer - 1 coat, then wait about 3 days or more to apply your paint. I find that Zinsser is quality - anything I've bought from this brand has been great. Amazon was quick with delivery, and at a fair price. Kept me from going "here and there" to find what I wanted. One store didn't have any, and another store only had it in the large gallon size.

Excellent product.
This is exactly what we needed in our bathroom to stop ceiling from peeling. Also, it was great because I could buy it in a quart size. I did not need to buy it in a gallon size which is all I could find in my local store.Did 2 coats.

2 of 3 cans were defective ...can't return
Great stuff. Using it on peeling house trim that is exposed to desert sun. Easy to use and clean up.Update: Well, that was the first can. This morning, June 1, 2018, for the first time, I opened the second two cans I ordered and BOTH are defective. The paint is separated and can't be mixed. The first can is from a previous order and is still good and all three were stored next to each other, so something is wrong with the second two cans. They are both from the same lot number. It is frustrating that Amazon won't let me return this defective product as the 30 days have passed. It's been about 3 1/2 months. Really, though, WHO opens and inspects a can of paint immediately upon delivery? You expect it to be as good as the last can and not defective.2nd update: June 3, 2018 Checked the 4th and 5th cans I ordered immediately upon arrival. They are fine. Still mad about not being able to return/exchange the 2 defective cans, though.I'm buying 2 more cans but will open and inspect the primer when they arrive. Guess I'll just have to eat the $23 I'm out from the last order.

DOES NOT FILL IN
As others have pointed out, this primer looks thick in the can but does little to fill in the areas between leftover chipped paint on a wall. It may seal area the edges of chipped paint areas, but it definitely does not act as mud or spackle - not even with 3 coats. Zinsser needs to be more truthful about its capabilities.

Great bonding primer
My house is 124 years old and my front door has layers of chipped paint that even sanding & stripping would not remove. Since it needed a lot of repair work with wood putty & sanding to even it out to a smooth finish, I was afraid of the putty chipping off. I applied a layer of this primer, before and after using the wood putty and then added 2 coats of paint and the door looks brand new. It’s not a solid white color, but more of a milky white so it will not replace a coat of paint but will help to bind the paint for a smoother finish. It does fill in small imperfections but the primer alone will not fill deep uneven places. This primer dries really fast & works much better than just a paint that has primer included, especially for filling in small imperfections. My door would’ve looked great with just one coat of paint after using this primer, but I did 2 coats because my door gets a lot of sun.
