Good stove once you get air to it.
I havent had the stove long and was wondering WTF when I did my first burn. As others have stated, you have to leave the door open forever.......to keep things burning. The primary air lever does absolutely: not a damn thing ! Did they forget to hook it up at the factory?? Anyway, I popped the ash pan cap and was able to shut the door without the fire going out. The stove puts out good heat when it is going and has a really nice view of the fire with its large glass door. The stove is a good looking unit, has a large ash pan ; the ash pan is sealed and has a latch to secure it. I like the large door which makes it easy to put large logs in the stove. Though large, the door material is rigid which allows for an air tight seal. The handle is nicely designed and is better than some of the newer designed handles that cause you push into the stove (bad if you slip). You might be wondering why I only gave 3 stars instead of 5. 2 stars fell off due to non functioning primary air lever, should be a simple fix.

This it the best stove you will find in it's price range.
I actually purchased this stove from Menards but I went to the most accessible site for me to write a review since I am pleased enough with its performance to dignify WoodPro with one. I bought the stove without actually seeing it in person, which is rare for me especially when spending that kind of money. I simply did some research and a few things popped out at me about this stove that made me feel it was the best bang for my buck. Im happy to report I was absolutely right. The fit and finish of the stove is top notch and while it is basic and utilitarian in its design, I think its a great looking stove. Its also a performer for sure. The installation of my stove is ideal, the pipe goes straight up and out a few feet from the ridge of my roof, no bends. It is 2 feet above the peak and the chimney therefore draws great allowing the stove to operate at its best. There is however a learning curve to fine tuning its burn and I found myself having to disregard a lot of my previous experience with old style stove that lack the re-burn tubes. Getting an initial good fire established can be tricky at first but once you get a good coal base going and feed it good cured hardwoods it will put out some serious heat. It's -15 degrees with wind chill right now and I'm burning some 5 year old locust and it keeps my 1700 sq ft ranch at 70. It's taking about 3 logs every couple hours to do so. Never bothered to install the blower fan, which seems to be a quality piece of equipement and easy to install, the stove simply doesn't need it to do its job. Great stove, high level of build quality, Spartan in style and operation, everything I wanted for a great price.

It doesn't live up to its advertisement.
I bought this stove because it was advertised to be mobile home and EPA approved. For those two things I am grateful. It was also advertised to hold a fire for 10 hours and heat 1000 square feet of home. Let me assure you - it will do NEITHER. One day out of an entire year did it hold a fire over eight hours and I was elated. I hoped it wasn't a fluke, but it was. The best I can get a full stove to last is just over four hours - that's it, nothing more. I get that with some coal added in the bottom of the fire box, but don't want to do that often, or put in much, as it's not designed for coal.If you have someone to continually be able to feed it every three - four hours, you'll be okay. But if you start a fire and go to work for 8 hours, don't expect it to be burning when you arrive back home - it won't happen.Would I buy it again. NO, I would purchase a much larger unit, one that will hold a fire for 10 - 12 hours. That's my experience. Sorry to disappoint.Anchor Point, Alaska

Great stove, would buy it again
I have had this stove for one heating season now, living just south of the Canadian border in northern Minnesota, using it nearly every day. I bought it at Menard’s, not Amazon. The reviews I’ve seen critical of this stove describe chimney draft issues incorrectly blamed on the stove. This isn’t my first wood stove, I performed the complete installation myself, including the chimney, I am a seasoned mechanical engineer and feel qualified to make that statement. If you have poor draft or burn wet wood, you won’t like this stove- or any other for that matter. I burn seasoned red oak. Modern EPA stoves like this one at maximum air input are nearly impossible to overheat- which makes them very safe. However, with good wood and a good chimney and consideration for air pressure- I recommend burning outside air- this stove will put out generous amounts of heat. The glass stays cleaner than most stoves I’ve experienced. The blower is loud on high and I wonder how long it’ll last, but it works great so far.

Excellent Performance and Looks!!
Great stove!! We are so happy with our purchase. We spent weeks reviewing and looking at all available wood stoves on the market. We wanted a mid-priced stove with a large glass front, mountable fan, ash bin and EPA Certified for efficiency. What a deal we found in this stove. We got everything we wanted in a stove for an affordable price. This stove is solidly built... very sturdy and better construction that all of the others we looked at. Great efficiency... uses 1/3 of the wood that our old stove used. Warms our 2200 sq. ft. home to a cozy 67 - 73 degrees with temps in the teens - twenties. Love the pedestal... we sat this on a custom built hearth board with 3/4 in plywood, 1/2 in backerboad and porcelain tile on top. Overall great bang for the buck!

Had to re-learn how to start a fire. NOT YOUR GRANDADDY'S STOVE.
My only issue with this stove is the air intake. It's not like the log burners that most of us are used to. -start a small fire, add some logs, walk away. Not so, with these new units. You need to use a lot of small kindling and leave the door open until you have a solid bed of coals. 1-2 inches of coals. After that, add a few split pieces of wood, staggered to allow airflow. Keep the door open a crack until they light up.Once they are lit, you can THEN close the door and slightly adjust the air intake. What does all this hassle buy you? More efficient burn and less wood used. If you buy your wood, that's a big deal. Most of the headache can be minimized by splitting a pile of shingle-sized pieces to start your fires. It is much warmer than the old log burners, and well worth the money.
