Astro Pneumatic Tool 78100 Goliath Ball Joint XL C-Frame Press

I’m an auto mechanic. With a conventional ball joint press I would often have to back the forcing screw almost all the way to get it to work. My first use of this press was on a Chevy 2500hd and the extra space made the job much easier.

This Goliath press is the beast to make your gear head buddy's jealous.I'm replacing ball joints on my 2001 ram 1500 4x4 with dana 44.This press was exactly what was needed to complement the astro master set I purchased at the same time. The master set alone was excellent, but the throat of the standard press runs on the short side when dealing with any larger style joints or general pressing.The Goliath is a great addition to get that extra push you need with a little extra space to work with adapters. It's not intended, but I did run a mid air gun with this press, And breaker bar to finish things offPlease make sure to grease or anti-seze the screw assembly before operating. Finally got the bushings swapped out on the 86 B250 I'm working on. Already own the standard 4wd Astro kit but the press just wasn't even close to the size I needed for the lower control arm. This works like a champ and even installed the new lower bushing with only a 1/2" hand ratchet. What a difference having the correct size tool makes. Worth every penny.

This thing is meatier than I expected seems like it will hold up to some pretty heavy abuse will update if it breaks

Astro Pneumatic Tool 78100 Goliath Ball Joint XL C-Frame Press is huge and sturdy so far. Durability is yet to be seen, how long it will last, so I won't rate that. Worked better on my original U-joints on my 1997 C1500 with 320k on the clock. Didn't work so well for the lower ball joints, Shop press worked way better and faster for ball joints. Still a keeper.

Needed a larger ball joint press for a few vehicles that the standard size just wasn't cutting. This thing is just as hefty as my older smaller units and then some. It's made of metal, and you use it for ball joints, u joints, pinching fingers, and anything else you need to exert a few tons of pressure on, that you can fit into your shop press to do the job. Yes it will probably damage the shipping box and hurt the driver carrying it to you since it weighs so much, but it's a heavy duty tool, you know that. Yes Snap on, Mac, and others make great tools, but I'm not in that range yet, so this does the job at a much more attractive price. I have not needed customer service so can't comment on that, but would not hesitate to buy this brand, from this seller again.

My impact gun has not been able to damage this, but it has damaged other presses. It's certainly is holding up, I can vouch for its quality in my experience using it, but if you pick it up, you can tell it's not going to break by how much it weighs.My only small gripe is that the anvil insert (I guess) falls out very easily. If you need to use the press upside down, you have to hold it in. If it falls out, the little ball bearing follows it and you have to chase it across the shop. I have remedied this by jamming an o-ring in there where it doesn't belong.

I needed this tool to swap out the upper ball joints on my 2008 Tundra. The cups required at both ends are quite long and they would not fit in a regular sized press. This one did the trick and I was back on the road after being delayed for day with bad joints stuck in the control arm. It's very sturdy, works great and I like the smaller sized jack screw it comes with as an alternative.

This worked great! Chunky & solid! was worried about stripping the thread removing some rusted in ball joints- but it just plowed through....installation was a breeze.. sometimes hard to handle... a fair compromise given the sturdiness and wide opening. Amazon however originally indicated 2 day delivery... turned into 3 weeks or so... lack of proper inventory??? Delayed my work...On challenging, they apologized and indicated they'd credit my account a symbolic $5... 5 weeks later -still not done.. isn't Amazon known for logistics? (inventory systems, delivery etc...)

Was pleasantly surprised at how sturdy this was,its heavy duty compared to others I have purchased in the past,this should be my last one.

Works for 3500 series trucks super easy

Very stout. Pressed out the original ball joints on my 90s Dana 50 TTB (180,000km) with ease. Glad I sprung for an extra large press as it opens up your options for stacking cups and adapters. Will be trying it on leaf spring bushings next.
