Original concept; excellent series
Unfortunately, they never released the other seasons of this series from our friends in the north; the Canadian locations are very nice and the story lines kept you engaged.

really fun film about sleuthing and friendship
The acting is really good--it gives Jason Priestly a chance to shine that he never has in Beverly Hills 90210. Lots of fun for the whole family!

Think of it as a Canadian version of "Castle"
It's a good formula for television: Amateur guy helps out lady detective on complicated cases, bringing his life experience into play to help her solve mysteries with some humor and sexual tension thrown in for good measure. It worked, after all, for nearly a decade on ABC as mystery writer Rick Castle helped NYPD homicide detective Kate Beckett solve crimes."Private Eyes" is a lot like "Castle" in many respects.Like "Castle," Jason Priestly's character - Matt Shade - meets Cindy Sampson's character - Angie Everett - on a case that involves something right in his wheelhouse. In this case it's a mystery about a drugged young hockey player. In Castle's case it was a killer who seemed to be copying murders from his books. The similarities don't stop there, however.Castle is a single dad with an ultra-smart daughter. Shade's daughter is also whip-smart, with an interesting twist - she's legally blind.Rick Castle had a cantankerous mother living with him and his daughter. Shade has a cantankerous dad who doesn't live with him but seems to spend most of his time at the house. Castle had two ex-wives that caused him a fair amount of trouble; Shade has one and she is also a troublesome figure.Oh, and did I mention that - like Beckett - Sampson's character is a willowy brunette with a strong sense of independence; is plenty tough with a boatload of brains, and a lot of investigative experience. And like Beckett, whose mother was murdered, Angie is driven by the memory of a dead parent: In her case it's the fact her dad (a former cop turned P.I.) died on the job.Like I said, a good formula. And it works well in "Private Eyes."Priestly and Sampson have good chemistry when they're acting together; the scripts are a little on the light side but they are interesting and the dialogue is appropriate. The plots are not overly complicated - a good thing for television - and the direction is smooth. The action moves along at a good pace and the series is shot in Toronto, which is a truly beautiful city. Not terribly original, but well worth watching.

Great show not focusing solely on solving murders
Got hooked watching it a local television station. Bought the set without hesitation. Really enjoy the chemistry between Jason Priestley and Cindy Sampson. The supporting cast further enriches the show and main characters. When ex-hockey player Matt Shade joins Angie Everett at her Everett Investigations as the two private detectives race around Toronto. The variety of cases having to deal with from stolen racehorses to identity theft is a great change of paste from murders every week. It is too bad that only Season 1 is available in the US. . (Had to by the region 2 / PAL German release for Season 2)

Don't bother
Standard. Bad acting by bad actors, standard plots badly done. Dont eat 1st and you won't throw up

Good shoe
Tad like castle but from ontario crime stopperI have all seasons. Lite humor almost 0 gun violence. Actually funny and dark. Wish it had more seasons. As long as the two main characters don’t get together series would last. When main characters join. Usually series dies. But for theb5 seasons. Worth watching.

Private Eyes Season 1
Private Eyes Season 1 is a well done Canadian TV series that in some ways reminds me of the former ABC Castle. The series has well crafted characters and a cast of talented Actors. I found that watching it was enjoyable experience and look forward to the second season.

One of The Really Good Ones
I began watching this series with anticipation in the begining and was quickly hooked. I PVR'd the series and have re watched it a few times. Now I own a copy of the first season and am half way through it again. I love it. Similar to another great series King and Maxwell!!!
