For the price this one cannot be beat. It chews concrete like butter for example.
I don't know what some reviewers are thinking when they say it's just good for basic tasks- this worked like a monster for me. For example, one thing I needed to do was remove a portion of poured concrete that was obstructing a new S40 PVC pipe I needed to install under my deck for drainage. Using a Diablo segmented diamond disc it did literally "chew" right though like the cement was butter in seconds, without even a hiccup from this grinder. And the "on/off switch being awkward to turn on? Not. In fact it's a great and sturdy design. It turns off very easily which is what matters. Like someone said it shouldn't be THAT "easy" to turn the grinder on for safety. Duh. This works great and was not a problem whatsoever. The standard disc attachment/ removal system is firm and foolproof. It has plenty of power for any home owner I am certain. Disclaimer: I am not a professional steel worker or construction worker, but if I were I would know by common sense that I would need to spend more than this for a grinder. Eventually. But even then I KNOW I couldn't go wrong with this to start with- I am sure that it would serve well, and I would certainly get my money's worth.

Compact Grinder with Plenty of Power for DIY and Farm Projects
I’ve only used this grinder once so far, but my first impression was honestly very positive. It fired right up, felt solid in hand, and handled the job without any problems. One thing I immediately liked is that it feels compact and manageable without feeling underpowered. Some smaller grinders feel weak once you actually put them under load, but this one seemed to have plenty of power for normal cutting and grinding work around the garage and property. I actually used it to cut a PTO shaft down to length for tractor equipment setup, and it handled the job much easier than I expected. It cut through cleanly without bogging down, and the grinder felt stable and controllable during the cut. The included hard case is also a nice bonus because it keeps everything together instead of ending up with loose wheels and accessories scattered around the workshop. Having extra grinding wheels included right away was convenient too. The grinder itself feels lightweight enough that it’s comfortable to handle, especially for tighter spaces or smaller projects where a giant heavy grinder would just be awkward. The grip and balance also felt pretty natural during use. Obviously I can’t speak to long-term durability yet after only limited use, but based on first impressions this seems like a very solid option for DIY work, farm repairs, metal cleanup, cutting bolts, or general garage use. Overall, for the price and included accessories, this feels like a really capable little grinder that gets the job done without unnecessary fuss.

Great grinder at an incredible price.
Purchased this for $30 on sale, and I have to say it's an incredible value. Comes with hard (blow-molded) case, 5 thick grinding wheels and was delivered in just one day. It works beautifully. In other reviews some have noted that it has more girth than other comparable 4.5" grinders. At present I also own a Milwaukee and a Bostitch, both excellent units. This is by far the most comfortable to handle. I do agree with others that the switch could have been engineered in a better position, but it works well and is very easy to use. I will add that I was smitten by Metabo about 30 years back when I borrowed someone's angle grinder. While this definitely appears to be more Hitachi than Metabo, it's an excellent and reliable tool. The original grinder I used was made in Germany, while this is of Asian manufacture. That one use got me hooked, and I always search out Metabo (and also Hitachi) power tools. I definitely recommend this tool.

Powerful, works well...
Powerful, works well, nice case and everything with it to make use of it. Spins up fast, has the power needed for real work, no matter if stripping metal (or cutting for that matter) or stripping wood of years of paint layers. This was a cautious buy that I am glad I made! 5x5 rating in all categories listed to rate. [PS: I simply do NOT use a lot of cases that come with power tools - such as my Dewalt drill set, or Dremel set (only keep accessories, bits, pad containers in it), because it is simply too much of a pain to get the stuff back in correctly. This case is designed better and it can actually be USED easily, w/o wasting your time after you've done a job with the grinder, you're tired, just wanting to put items away, and in their place.]

Good solid grinder for light to medium duty jobs
After reading some of the negative reviews, I was expecting a piece of junk that sounded like a coffee can full of rocks. This tool has a very substantial feel and appears to be good quality. Angle grinders are never the smoothest-running power tools, but this one feels a lot closer to one of my better grinders than it does to one from the local tool place that sells cheap imports; and I have bought many of both. This is definitely better made than the cheapo variety. It is true that the on-off switch is a little stiff. It’ll probably loosen up a bit with use. It’s not a problem in any case. I have expensive angle grinders, but I like to use cheap ones for dirtier jobs that don’t require the power of a more expensive tool. This one will be perfect for that use. 6.2 amps is plenty for many light tasks such as wire brushing the slag off of welds and the like. This is a good buy, and when it does go to tool heaven, the case - and those aren't cheap - will live on. EDIT: I just spent a full day on a welding project and used this grinder quite a bit. I have several angle grinders with different flap disks, wire brushes, cutoff wheels etc. because no one likes changing the wheels constantly. The last one of my cheap grinders from the freight place stopped working altogether - it's switch hasn't locked for a long time but at least it spun. I replaced it with another one of these Metabo HPTs. They're a good machine for a low price. Hard to beat and even though the price has gone up 25% over what I paid, it's still a very good value.

Very Good Tool
I have used almost every make of grinders throughout my entire career. I found that the make Walter / Metabo electric hand drills, grinders. etc.. were the best in industry. They outlasted any grinder I have used. Rugged, compact and can handle a lot of abuse. It comes in a nice case and it includes: five grinding wheels, mounted safety guard, one handle, two tightening nuts, and a wrench. For $50, it is a heck of a deal and it will last you a long time.
