Blackstone's Handbook of Ports & Border Security

Blackstone Press are a long established publisher of legal textbooks; and a well known series of police 'handbooks'.The small size of this title immediately makes it highly suitable for carrying on the person, sounds obvious butI can confirm its no trouble at all to put in a (large) pocket on a jacket etc...The series itself has a niche audience, and, this title is all the more specialist. However it seems to deal withcommon and less common scenarios at depth; with anything like this you have to mainly look to the body endorsing it todecide the likelihood of the contents being correct.

The size of this book is great - it would probably fit in a jacket pocket quite easily. It is useful in that it contains extracts of all the relevant statutes and notes on how they might be used/interpreted in practice. There is a useful (and currently relevant) chapter on terrorism at the back, although this is not what the majority of the book is expressly about. Although the subject is relatively dry, the book contains introductions to each section/topic and a great deal of narrative/cultural context, so it is easy to read even for those who are not involved in security on a daily/vocational basis.
