Life saver! Perfect and Love it.
I've used this several times over the past half year that I had it, and I LOVE this thing. I live and work near construction zones so hitting nails was a normal occurrence. I decided to research tire inflators in hopes that getting one will help me get through my busy schedule before getting my tires patched. A problem with all the other tire inflators is that my tire pressure warning system checks my spare tire also, and the air hose is never long enough to reach both my cigarette lighter plug and my spare tire in the back of my car. This unit runs on battery and allows me to carry it to whichever tire that needs inflating - BINGO! Nice and easy. The unit is compact and super easy to use. Not needing to plug it into my car's cigarette lighter is a plus. Just take it, plug it into your tire, and turn it on. It's going to be a little noisy, but that's to be expected and definitely not too loud. The tire pressure gauge is small - might be hard to read for some people, but it is surprisingly accurate. I have a separate tire pressure gauge that I always use to check just to make sure, and it has read pretty much the same as the gauge on this unit every time. I don't know how this unit will do on a completely flat tire, but so far for tires with low tire pressure it's been perfect. It only takes a couple minutes to top a tire back up to normal. I've topped off all my tires plus a friend's tires all in one go and it held up just fine. After the unit is fully charged, I leave it in my car in case of emergency. The manufacturer recommends recharging every 3-6 months if not in use. Definitely worth it for the peace of mind.

Bad Experience
I bought the inflator and charged it exactly per the instructions that came with it. The first time I used it, I topped off one tire with NO problem. Took about a minute and the machine worked just fine. The second tire was going fine, too. I turned off the machine using the on/off switch, checked the pressure with a tire gauge, reattached the hose, and turned the machine on again with the on/off switch and instantly I heard "KA-POW". The fuse blew. Bad smells were emitted from the machine. (I wondered if I should have turn off the compressor before turning the machine on again. I was told that it shouldn't have made a difference.) Anyway, I replaced the fuse and the machine wouldn't work. I tried charging it for a few more hours, but it wouldn't turn on without the wall charger. So I returned it to Amazon.Amazon said they would send another one then they said they wouldn't as the SLIME was no longer available through PRIME. That was a week ago. There are 6 available today using PRIME (the same way I ordered the defective one). Don't know what to make of that. I am just as happy they are not sending it. As it turns out, the rechargeable tired inflator I had before (made by Tailgate Tools) could be salvaged by replacing the SLA battery. (Didn't know that letting the battery discharge would cause it to die forever. Learned my lesson.) Ordering a new battery today and hope all with be well.Seems like other folks have had a good experience with the SLIME. I really liked the roominess in the onboard compartments for the various accessories.

functional, compact pump, but loud, with non-usable gauge
A compact rechargeable inflator that uses a lead-acid battery. Noisy but powerful, it has handy storage for its components, but a useless pressure gauge. After my last 12V-DC inflator blew the fuses on my Civic, I decided it was time for a tire pump that didn't depend on the car for power. This unit inflates my Civic tires about 2-3 times as fast as the old 12V.It's not as loud as the car engine and the old pump were (running at the same time), but all the noise is from one point, so it seems louder to my ears. It vibrates enough to "walk" a little while running on the concrete floor. The unit has storage panels front and back that store all of the cables/accessories that come with it, and a short instruction leaflet. The in-built gauge is useless. It approximates the correct pressure with the unit off (but not clearly enough to read a specific number). But turn the unit on, and the indicated PSI instantly jumps to 40psi and stays there.I have to check the pressure before and after with my Accutire Digital Tire Gauge . An accurate built-in digital pressure readout would have been outstanding. The flip-tab on the hose is kind of stiff for the first few uses, I ended up letting a bunch of air out of my tires in the process of getting it locked into place. The product's lead-acid battery has the advantage of no "memory effect", meaning charging the battery w/o discharging it fully doesn't shorten its life (like a Ni-Cad), but the drawback is that much like your car battery, a lead-acid must be kept topped off, and if you allow a lead-acid to drain completely, it fails and is no longer chargable. A Lithium-Ion would have been nice instead, since they are non-toxic (no special disposal needed) and are not harmed by being fully discharged.I'm unclear on the choice of "Slime" as a brand-name, but it IS memorable, and the product is good. And it sure beats using a filthy public air pump at a gas station (and it's always freezing, searing hot, or raining when you need to do this), if you can even find one that's functioning. This inflator could be quieter, use a Li-ion battery, and have a usable pressure gauge, but it gets the job done in a compact no-fuss package. Recommended.

Lasted 4 years, dead
Purchased this item on August 2011 for $47.40. Today is 1/3/2016. It is officially dead. I purchased it for its compact profile, on board accessories, and overall family friendly profile. We used it to inflate car tires and bicycle tires. It is well suited for those tasks. It comes with wall plugin and car power outlet plugin. The cords are decent length. Very disappointed it died after 4.5 years, of not very heavy use. Looking at other options to replace it.

Handy Automobile Device
This is a remarkable and handy automobile device that will appeal to many drivers and takes the hassle out of having to find a service station with an accessible and working air hose when your tire pressure is low or when you have a flat.I bought it for insurance on our cold winter roads here in Canada but had to use it recently to inflate a partially flat tire and it worked great. After plugging it in for an overnight charge this device inflated an almost flat tire to satisfactory road-worthy condition in just 4 minutes. Afterwards, it still had enough charge 2 weeks later to top off my others. The device also serves as a 12 volt power source for various auto accessories.I would have given it 5 stars if it would function off AC power as well as the internal battery.
