Good coffee indistinguishable from fully leaded.
Indistinguishable from fully leaded until 10 minutes later if you make a mistake and are caffeine sensitive.I have no fundamental objection to caffeine - hence the half caff but a mug of full strength and I'm wired for a couple of hours. Decaff is dull. This stuff hits the mark. You can always add a bit of standard if you like. I have no idea what the "Swiss Water" technique for removing the caffeine involves but it sounds a damn site more attractive than extraction by benzine or whatever. Get some and enjoy. I have no connection to the vendor.

Best of both worlds
Very good taste. As good as any full caff.

Half Decent Cup of Coffee/Clever One-Way Valve on bag
I have massively cut down on my coffee intake, from about 20 to 2-3 cups/days, as I was buzzing, and all that caffeine cannot be good for me. It is always nice to see a company having a go at a decent 50/50 blend. The branding is fairly simple, but I do really like the packaging this comes in. You have a tear off seal to start with and then you have a zip-lock to keep it closed. The really clever part is the valve that is built into the bag. Once the bag is closed, it allows you to squeeze the air out of the bag and does not let it bag in again. This helps to keep the coffee as fresh as possible. As I have a reusable capsule for my Krupps Nespresso, I decided to give it a go through that. It did work really well through it and did not leave any coffee in the capsule. The result was a decent cup of coffee, that is hardly distinguishable from normal coffee. It had a nice, not overly strong, flavour that did not have much of a bitter aftertaste to it. I will say that the smell of the coffee in the bag was better than that in the cup. That is not to take away from the cup of coffee. It does not help when I know it is a 50/50 blend when tasting it, as you could have a preconception about it. I think I would have been better to get my wife to make me up two cups, one with this and another with normal coffee. That way I could have blind tasted it. Strength wise, for me this is more medium roast, than medium/dark.I am going to carry on using this, mainly for lattes, as it does help reduce my overall caffeine intake and that cannot be a bad thing. At £7.99, I think this is reasonable priced.I hope you found this review & photos interesting, informative and useful. Thanks for reading.

Straightforward, with a gentle kick
I’m reviewing the ‘Mambo Italiano’ blend here. “Hey mambo, mambo Italiano”, etc. etc. It’s largely a middle-of-the-road blend, but with a little bit of an espresso bitter kick about it. It’s very quaffable, but with that classic proper from-beans taste that shines through. It being labelled with a strength of 5 seems a little over-the-top though, I’d have maybe called it a 4.Trying to put distinctive descriptions on the flavour note is a little difficult, as there’s not a lot there that distinguishes it from other coffees. I note the manufacturers have gone with ‘dark chocolate’, which is a good fallback term for when it essentially tastes like ‘normal coffee’. Good quality proper coffee, for sure, but distinctive or special or memorable, not that I could taste.Having tried it both ways, I have to say I actually preferred this coffee with milk to without. I can hear the purists moaning from here, but a fair dash of whole milk let some of the more interesting parts of the flavour shine through. The half-caff approach is an interesting one, and making a whole coffee company around just doing 50% caffeinated 50% decaf seems like quite a niche project. At this level I think it’s psychological as much as anything else. Since it’s fairly strong you can convince yourself it’s a full-bodied kick of coffee, but you could also tell yourself that there’s barely any caffeine in it, and react accordingly. At time of writing it’s decent value, presented in a very standard bag, and it’s got a nice if middle-of-the-road taste. 4 stars all the way.

Brilliant idea and taste pretty good too
Usually I drink espresso throughout most of the day and when it comes to half three / four PM I will switch to an instant for my last coffee before unwinding. I hate instant but just need that one last kick to get me through. An instant coffee provides that ay a reduced caffeine level compared to a double espresso from my machine. If I have a machine espresso I'll be up to late.Another problem I have is some weekend mornings I want another espresso straight after my first but my body and brain doesnt like the effect. I'll have a headache straight after if I do and it speeds movements up too. This new half and half coffee negates both these issues for mr. I get to have extra coffee but don't have to suffer.. it allows me to enjoy that second cup without the caffeine overload. Or it allows me to have that one last espresso in the afternoon with mouth the caffeine overload.I shan't lie, the taste isn't quite comparable to a regular espresso. It is only slightly noticeable in taste. It doesnt offer the depth and flavour a full espresso would. It is still a million times better than no coffee and a thousand times more enjoyable than an instant. In all honest I have had worse proper coffee so this is still doing alright. It works very well in my espresso machine and the beans have been ground finely. It has quickly become my go to choice for a late afternoon brew. It's a great idea.
