Capable video player when properly setup
I purchased this tablet strictly to watch Netflix and videos. When I first opened the box, I installed Netflix to find it does not play back video (black screen with sound). I also installed MX player only to find that it would crash every few minutes. This was with all forms of acceleration (HW, HW+, and SW).After nearly giving up, I did some research on a Note 2 and a Tab 3 10.1 and found that each device ran a different version of Netflix. I also saw that Netflix had a note on their website regarding running version 3.14. Using the Azpen store app found on this tablet (this store is a blessing) I noticed on the left side that you can download older versions of many apps. I did download version 3.14 and voila, Netflix works (keep in mind that the first 30 seconds or more may yield poor quality video, but it does clear up to good definition). (NOTE: The Note 2 uses version 4.7.1, which I could not find on the Azpen store. This version also worked, but know that both versions will not allow you to download videos for later viewing.) First issue resolved. After further research, I noticed that some people had issues with video playback as well. While I am a dedicated MX user for Android, I am also a dedicated GOM user for Windows. I downloaded the GOM player for Android and ran a movie for about an hour without a hiccup. For the price I paid, and for the purpose that this tablet would be used, this tablet is an extremely great value. Final word, this is the third tablet I went through in less than two weeks(the first two had to be returned for different issues). For those of you hoping to get Netflix to work, hopefully I have helped.Battery life is very weak as you may only get up to two hours of video watching time, and with the lowest brightness chosen.People have mentioned that this tablet gets really hot while charging and using. I have felt the temperature to rise, but it is like any other tablet that, while being used, is charging. I do not think that this is an issue.I highly recommend that the first app you get, prior to using this, is an APK extractor. Download this first, then the older Netflix app from the Azpen store. Once done, begin extracting the Netflix App and the ES file manager app (you don’t want to upgrade to the current version as it started to slow down my tablet). Turn off app updates to ensure that the latest versions of these apps do not get updated.Final thoughts: For my purpose as a video player and potential comic reader, it is a great tablet. If you want more capability and Bluetooth, this is may not be the tablet for you.
