Outdoor Research Men's Rocky Mountain High Gaiters

Best purchase ever! I have mid-calf Sorel boots. They're warm, but unless I also had on snow pants, the snow got in from top when I walked - No More!! Since this purchase, my legs are warm & dry: wearing jeans or running pants, while out in sleet &/or deep snow. Durable material, great quality, highly recommend.

I purchased these for a deer hunt in the late fall, early winter with hardly any snow on the ground. Yet, the brush was wet with rain. These kept my legs dry below the knee and worked well.The material as noted is different from the top half to the bottom half, but still was dry 100%As others have mentioned, it felt a little tight around the knee area when wearing normally. However, I liked that it wasn't too baggy to catch and hold snow.If you typically use this with one pair of boots, I would put your boots on at home, and with warm hands at home, adjust the heel strap to the perfect fit. Then unvelcro them each time you put them on and off. It is better to fiddle with the clasp with warm hands then when it is wet and muddy.I enjoyed the product, and bought this product because of the Outdoor Research name. I have a few of their items, and they haven't let me down.

I bought these for snowshoeing and they work exactly like they should. I was skeptical of the attached/non-replaceable underfoot straps but they seemed quite durable. Time will tell. I can only imagine that using them for hiking on rocks/rough ground would potentially wear the strap out much quicker than snowshoeing would. I was also concerned about the strap buckles rubbing against the snowshoe straps but they are quite unobtrusive. The design of these gaiters makes them easy to get in and out of and they seal nicely around the footwear. The upper straps/buckles hold shut securely and are also unobtrusive. You essentially forget that you have them on - which is the way it should be. A satisfying purchase. In regards to size - I had purchased a medium pair for my wife and a large pair for me based upon the manufacturer's size chart which is based solely on shoe size. It turns out that the mediums fit me (size 11 shoe) and the larges fit my wife (size 9 shoe) due to her 16" calves. They mediums will not fit someone with 16" calves. They should really size them by calf size and not just shoe size.

I bought these gators for hunting in the thick, scratchy sage brush here in Utah. I used to tuck my pants into my boots to keep bugs and ticks out, and double knot my boot laces to keep them from being untied by the brush. These gators cover all that up for me, which is exactly what I needed. I was very pleased with their performance.After about a week of very rough hiking, these still look nearly new. I can see some slight fuzzing of the stitching where the straps attach at the bottom of the gators -- from all the abrasion. It seems mostly cosmetic.These added a little bit of noise to my walking, as branches and sticks brushed across them. The sound of the scratching on the cordura fabric was slightly greater than on regular pants and leather boots. No real complaints.These were much more breathable than I expected. My hunting trip was in 80 degree weather, and I hardly noticed I was wearing them. I had no sweat buildup under them, which made them very comfortable.I would absolutely buy these again, or recommend them to a friend.

on day in late fall, I underestimated the snow conditions on Adirondacks trail and ventured out to beg two remote peaks in just ankle length water proof shoes that were made for trail running. Fortunately I put these gaiters just for the sole purpose of saving my pants from Adirondack mud. these gaiters they fit well and covered just below the knee. As expected there wasn't any snow till 3 mile. but soon as we climbed higher we were hiking in 1 foot of snow in lower elevation and soon we were breaking the trail in knee deep snow. at a point my feet started getting cold but I kept climbing to keep them warm. That day I hiked in knee deep snow for more than 7 hours. I must acknowledge that with out this gaiter there was now way to come back form such trail without get frostbite. if you hike a lot in snow conditions you cannot be wrong in choosing these gaiters.

The protectors themselves are great and heavy duty. Our problem is that the strap to go around the boot is too short; it isn't long enough to go around the boot/shoe and fasten into place. We have searched for a place to buy an extension but no luck yet!

These worked fine for me. Easy on/off, reasonably priced. I bought a size large and they are a bit big for me, I'm a 5'7" tall woman and maybe I could have gotten away with a size medium, but better too large than too small. I have large feet, my snowshoeing boots are equivalent to men's size 9, so I bought size large to make sure they fit properly over my boots, which they do. They keep my feet and legs dry while snowshoeing. They're a bit loose at the top even when completely cinched up, but I think I can fix that with a simple velcro tab.

These gaiters have served me well in every condition from Colorado winter snow to Alaskan backcountry brush. In all scenarios these gaiters have proven easily manuverable while providing maximum protection against scathing thistle, unrelenting snow, and swampy conditions. These gaiters even kept my socks/boots dry from a ~10second submersion in shin depth fast flowing glacial waters. Well worth the money spent. I have used these gaiters solely with 8" waterproof leather hiking boots, and am unsure how they would perform with other styles or sizes of boots.

The quality looks very good for the price. The boot straps are short, which forces a tight fit around the shoe as the bottom end is laced. I should have chosen one size larger, XL for 45 EU instead of L. Attached the sizing guide from the received package, since there was not one on the post description.

I use these gaiters frequently. So far I have found they are durable and well designed. I wear them with a Merrell hiking boot and they compliment each other well. I recommend this product.

I realize that sizing gaiters may be difficult, but OR does nothing to make it easy or help customers. Despite me having read reviews that this is oversized, I thought I had appreciated the sizing prior to ordering. Wrong.I ordered medium. I'm size 10.5-11, 80 kg and 178 tallThe medium calf size was far too big. The problem with that is the gaiters will just track down to my ankles with walking. I'm in the process of returning this.So be careful - you are at least one size smaller than what you expect if you are a male with similar dimensions.
