Hot Air Popper Works Best....
I tried popping the sorghum in a large pot on the stove, in a brown bag in the microwave, and in a hot air popper. By far the hot air popper worked the best, the popper needs to have a swirling/rotating air stream to avoid blowing the light sorghum grains out of the popper, this is the popper I use: Nostalgia RHP310 Retro Series 8-Cup Hot Air Popcorn Maker Note that sorghum always has a larger portion of unpopped grains than corn does.Procedure: measure out sorghum into three glasses, 1/2 cup per glass. Place a large bowl in front of the popper underneath your ventilation hood since quite a bit of smoke is generated. Turn on the popper for 30 seconds. Remove red lid, dump in a glass of sorghum, replace lid. Pop for a few minutes until no more popped sorghum comes out. Turn off the popper, discard the remaining hot unpopped grains into a pot so they can cool, turn popper back on and dump in another glass of sorghum. Repeat this procedure for the remaining glasses of sorghum. Sprinkle on butter or olive oil and salt. The sorghum in this review pops well, Bob's Red Mill Whole Grain Sorghum, 24 Oz (Pack of 4) , as does a competing sorghum, 5 Lb Popping Sorghum Grain

Quit expensive, but good flavor
I like the flavor, although they take a looong time to cook and they are difficult to get soft.I need succsesfully make popcorn with, although few grains go to waste since they dont pop. The popcorn was great though! I used coconut oil and it worked very well. I tried other oil but was not succsesfull then... I wonder why?

Do not buy
I tried several different ways to pop the Sorghum and no matter what you maybe get 10 out half a cup before it burns. I tried the stove top, microwave, instapot, flavorwave I tried with or without oil with high smoke point. there is definitely something wrong with this particular product and I can't get a refund

Pop it in a Whirley-pop!
I am a popcorn addict. I recently stopped eating popcorn for health reasons and have been trying to pop sorghum instead. I have tried every which way I could. I was at my local kitchen gadget store yesterday and saw this cool little doodad called Whirley-pop and got one. I made a batch of popped sorghum when I got home and it came out OK but not great. I just made another batch today and WOW! Great results. I made sure that the wire twirlie thing was just about making contact with the pan. I used coconut oil, same as yesterday. This time I turned the burner on the stove up a little higher, waited until the oil just started to smoke and then tossed the sorghum in and began twirling. It popped vigorously this time and I kept twirling until popping slowed way down and then pulled it from the burner while still swirling. The key to not burning it is swirling. I've been popping sorghum now for about 6 months very often. This was, by far, the best batch so far. If you are looking for a great way to pop sorghum, I definitely recommend trying a Whirley-pop.

Popped sorghum- Yum!
Heard about popped sorghum and had to try it. It did not disappoint! Tiny kernels of light, fluffy sorghum that taste a lot like popcorn without the stomach upset I usually get. Popping instructions are on the package. Worth cooking with as well.

Happy to get 4 bags at a time
I was happy to get 4 bags at a time, but it’s almost twice the price I usually pay, per bag, so not a great price. Not sure if it has to do with pandemic prices (hoarding). This is a good grain for digestion & for celiac-prone.
