Great for practice in between range trips!
Let me start by saying I am a shooting newbie & a first time gun owner; a wife & mom of 2, & in my 30s. After taking a gun safety class and shooting a hand gun for the first time, I was hooked. Went out and tried a bunch of different handguns to find which one I wanted to purchase. {if anyone is curious I went with the CZ sp-01 tactical and LOVE it!} Because I was hooked on shooting as my new hobby, I had to find a way to practice handling my new gun, learn my sights, strengthening my hands/grip, etc but still get an idea of how I was shooting without spending so much money on a trip to the range. Just buying the ammo alone… yikes!I did some research on snap caps and found this Pink Rhino lazer training one. The reviews seemed good so I thought I’d just give it a try and hope for the best. Exceeded my expectations!! I took a 2 week break from the range and used this lazer cartridge a few times in the comfort of my own home. Getting to take my time to align my sights, fix my grip, practice my stance, etc with no pressure of a range time limit, or using live ammo has been great! I went to the range, today, for the first time since getting this lazer trainer and am so excited to see my clusters closer together. Pics are from the range today, from 3 yards away. Time to move up to 5 yards, I think! This lazer cartridge works with smart targets and an app. It’s my understanding you can use different apps, but I just use the one suggested, Mantis. I downloaded a bunch of their targets from my own printer for no charge, just black & white, nothing fancy and they work great. I believe you can order them in color on (probably) better paper, but for a cost. You’ll also need a tripod to hold your phone; app open, back camera facing the wall to align with the target. Right now I’ve not bought the in app purchase, and have just been using the free exercises. There’s a lot of potential on the app for your practice needs, different drills, timed shots, dual shooter, etc. For this newbie just shooting the target and seeing where I hit has been all I need for now. Highly recommend! I take the batteries out of the trainer when I’m not using it, like the instructions suggest. But, I also bought a bunch of batteries in bulk just to have for when they wear out — they are super cheap, so why not. My dad is newer to shooting too, and I bought him one of these trainers immediately after trying it myself. I helped him get the app set up, etc and he was pretty excited about this too! Definitely recommend for those in between range trips!

Follow the directions in the box and you will do fine
There are many reviews that stated that the laser doesn't last very long, to that I would reply that since the batteries come in their own individual slot within the box that if you replace them in those slots then they last a very long time. I have owned this item for many months. Shot numerous hit with it, and have had very good success. In anticipation of the short battery life I bought a replacements from Amazon but not had to use them yet.Having a Stigmatism, it can be very hard to learn to aim with iron sights but with this laser you can learn to properly focus.FYI: the instructions state that you should use a push rod to remove it from the barrel, which I do, I would suggest that you use the cleaning rod that come with your handgun. Right size, Right length, and now a days they are made of plastic.

Works well - so far.
Seems to be nice quality and works well at least initially - I have only used it to dry fire my handgun about 50 times - so will see how long it lasts. Definitely, helping me improve my grip / firing techniques and it is very obvious when I am doing something incorrectly. Much cheaper way to practice than spending money on ammo. Laser is plenty bright indoors at 3-5 yards. I had purchased a cheaper similar item on eBay that had good reviews - but upon receiving it did not work consistently with my firearm and appeared to be poor quality. I ended up returning it and purchasing the Pink Rhino from Amazon. The Pink Rhino appears to be much better made.

How to fix the dimming light
[EDIT] After I posted my review, I decided to take the laser apart and try and figure out the issue. Looking at the electronics portion under the snap button, I noticed that the ring with the notches cut out of it (see picture) was rather loose. I used a small flathead screwdriver to rotate the ring until it was tight again. Putting the batteries back in, it was working as good as new. Probably not a permanent fix, but better than it not working at all. I'm hesitant to use lock-tight or other glue as it seems the ring helps in completing the circuit for the laser to turn on and I wouldn't want to prevent that from happening. If all I need to do is tighten the ring every now and then, I'm good with that.Bought this in October 2020, it died in July 2021. Only used it for about thirty 10 minute practice sessions before the laser stopped working. The batteries are still good as I can manually complete the circuit with some metal and the laser shines nice and bright, however, the button itself seems to have broken. the place where the firing pin hits has worn down a divot in the rubber and manually pressing the button with my finger doesn't do anything. When unscrewing the battery cap, the laser will turn on even with the button not being pressed. The rear 0-ring broke off after only 2 months of use. The accuracy seemed to be pretty good though. It's great for a beginner learning to get sight picture down, but don't expect it to be a long term investment.

When they’re done right they are amazing.
I bought the 9mm laser round and it had been nothing short of phenomenal. Ive been practicing for competitions this winter and this has easily 3k-5k dry fire shots on it and has been used as a cat toy when not in the gun, all on the same batteries. Now I had also ordered the .45 laser hoping I would get the same results, but that one was not aligned properly. Doesn’t deter me from ordering another though.
