Best standard tried and true Pathology text
This is the best, tried and true Pathology text. I used this in Medical School, probably the first or second edition in 1978. Excellent and detailed and frequently updated. Excellent chapters regarding Hematology. It's so interesting how knowledge progresses over time. It's said that 50% of what we teach Medical Students today will change in 25 years. During my time after graduating, AIDS was discovered in the early 1980s and the role of Hepcidin in iron metabolism in 2001. You can't go wrong with this purchase if you're a Pathologist!

A must have book for any level of training and practice
This is the definitive pathology textbook for medical students, but is also an excellent resource for residents and faculty in pathology. It incorporates basic knowledge and patterns of cellular and tissue response to injury, inflammation, the basis of neoplasia, and organ specific pathology. It also incorporates new molecular mechanisms as we continue to learn more about the underlying basis of disease. It is not enough to just learn this book for a career in pathology, but all other pathology texts build off of the foundation of this one. It is also useful for those in the basic sciences who wish to get some clinical insight to whole body or cellular pathophysiology.

THE BEST choice
I needed to have a more current edition for my overall practice and teaching even tho I have used the Robbins handbooks and other authors but I returned to ROBBINS for 1 primary reason. I read the comment by a pathologist who first had his edition in 1960s. I read, with interest, his comments and decided at that moment that my ROBBINS regular text version needed to be ordered. I am glad I did. It is "that and more" of what the pathologist noted of his reading experience. I have been in healthcare now for 32 years as a physician and 40 in EMS. Robbins IS the text.Dr. C. Yay! Medical Reference!
I just opened this book and I am pretty much in love...looks like a great reference for the medically minded! I am a DPT and can tell this is way more user friendly than my Porth from Undergrad Pathophysiology and Kandel's Neuroscience- bought for "fun" wanting to learn more about Neuroscience. I anticipate I could actually read the Robbins cover-to-cover...this is not going to happen for me with Kandel...thought it could and I made it through 90 pages and had to skip to things I could see as being relevant like Neurotransmitters. This edition is copyright 2015 so while it is not YouTube, I am expecting it to be pretty up to date and I look forward to comparing to my old Porth Copyrighted 2005!

Useful to go over after finishing the required textbook for ...
Classic Textbook, covering the essentials of Pathology, at the core of medical school organ systems basic science and the basis for understanding much of medicine. Useful to go over after finishing the required textbook for each organ system block. There is slightly different coverage in Rubin's Clinicopathological Foundations of Medicine. There is an excellent casebook included in the expertconsult version of Robbins and Cotran; I don't know if the studentconsult version contains it as well.
