Violinworks Book 1: A comprehensive method for the older beginner

This is a marvellous course.If you are trying to learn violin by yourself, this is most definitely the course you need.Well done all concerned in producing this book and media course. I really appreciate the effort.

Not I expected

A comprehensive package of instruction, online lessons and backing tracks. If you already play another instrument, this is all that you need to get started. If not, I suggest that you find a teacher as well. Book 2 is equally good, when you are ready for it.

I am returning to the violin after some 20 or more years and I was distressed to find that I was truly awful. So I decided to start again from the beginning. I was delighted to find this book which is taking me back to the fundamentals and guiding me though tuneful examples to a better and more musical technique. I look forward to progressing sufficiently to go on to book 2.

After reading the reviews I decided to try this book. Having not played music for many years and never the violin, I have found this book and accompanying online content to be just what I was looking for. The lessons are easy to follow. I have progressed quite quickly in a short space of time and am looking forward to progressing further. Amazing!

Violinworks is a combination of violin tutor and a website which provides baking tracks and video demonstrations of all the pieces in the books. There is a lot of detailed information and encouragement on practice methods and extra activities. It is possible to use the books without a tutor and still progress. Good selection of music styles though some pieces are too fast for me!

Good book for the beginner with videos and music to download that come with the book, liked it so much bought book 2.

Als Anfänger gibt mir das Buch einen sehr guten Leitfaden. Die zusätzlichen Videos sind sehr hilfreich und das Spielen zu den Backing Tracks macht viel Spaß. Kleiner Tipp, wenn die Tracks am Anfang zu schnell sind: es gibt Apps, die ein Stück langsamer abspielen können, ohne dabei die Tonhöhe zu verändern.Das Englisch im Buch ist mMn kein Problem. Neue "Vokabeln" muss man eh lernen, dann passiert das eben gleich auf Englisch. Nur für die Videos sollte man ein bisschen Gehör für die Sprache haben. Ich finde ihr Englisch aber sehr angenehm.Trotz des super Aufbaus und der guten Zusatzmaterialien bin ich froh, in regelmäßigen Abständen auch einen Lehrer zu haben, der einfach Dinge sieht, die mir sonst nicht auffallen würden und mir über meine ganz persönlichen Hürden hinweg hilft.

Méthode progressive et assez complète pour débutants, qui peut être suivie de manière autonome.Le choix des exercices me semble vraiment bien pensé, déjà parce qu'il y a une plaisante variétés dans les styles musicaux (classique, fiddle, etc) et aussi une progression qui n'est ni trop, ni trop peu complexe à suivre.Il me semble judicieux d'apprendre à lire en clé de sol avant de commencer.Des variations pour aller plus loin pour certains exercices, des conseils et mises en garde pour vérifier sa position ou se corriger seul.Les fichiers audio à télécharger aident aussi à bien saisir la partie rythmique et certains exercices.Je recommande si vous comprenez l'anglais.
