Can I just plug it into my computer and it works?

Accepted Answer

No, you will need to download the installation instructions. You need to run the zadig USB installer (zadig-2.4.exe worked for me) so your computer can have the right drivers to communicate with the miner. You also need the latest cgminer software to actually run the miner (4.11.1 worked for me) And I recommend you create a .bat file to launch the miner and specify the pool(s) you want to mine at. This is assuming your computer USB port has enough power to run the miner, most do but I don’t recommend it. Use mining specific powered USB hubs like the GekkoScience type ones; you get more stability and   you don’t damage your computer (note: generic powered hubs can’t handle more than 1 or 2 miners so avoid them). This miner is much more efficient that the Gekko 2pacs I was using (S5 chips) but still needs about 5w of juice. It gives you hardware errors at first but that’s normal when running these USB miners at anything over 100MHz, just adjust the potentiometer up until the HW errors drop to almost nothing, I get about 33Gh/s at 150MHz, happy mining!

This will only mine SHA256 algorithm crypto like Bitcoin. To get Bitcoin Gold, you could simply use a Multi-Pool like prohashing.com or zpool.ca to receive payouts in Bitcoin Gold (or whatever other crypto or token you want). Please see our "FAQ" and "Help" sections for more details. Thanks!
