I absolutely love everything I've ever read by Jaclyn Moriarty. She has such an amazing way of turning a phrase that makes it strikingly beautiful and immediately recognizable as true. And she has a knack for world-building and character-building that makes it feel so relatable that even in the magical universe you could imagine it being just one town over from your own. I fell in love with the first book in this trilogy, and the second didn't let me down. So excited to see how she wraps this all up!

Loved this one equally as much as the first! Characters become even more real (and even more endearingly flawed). Amazing descriptions of both The World and The Kingdom. Intelligent and humorous writing without being pretentious or too difficult for a variety of readers. Now that I'm done, I am literally pained knowing it may be a year or so for the third. I'm going to miss these characters until then, and again after I've finished, I'm sure...Please hurry, Ms. Moriarty.

I originally listened to the audiobook version, though I finished the last few chapters in the book. The audiobook makes the story come to life even more with different voices for different characters. This second book propels the story forward and leaves you wanting the next book.

Love this author's writing. Poetry with a story line. Drama, families, growing up, silliness, beauty - she includes it all. Start with the first book. Read slowly. The third book isn't here yet. It's going to be too long of a wait, even if it is published tomorrow.

Loved this book. A little slow at some parts, but well worth the read! Read this book if you can!

A gift for my granddaughter, who is a prolific reader.
