Before I purchases this Dr. J DVD player, I had purchased the Insignia dual portable DVD player at Best Buy. However, the product is not region free and can only be operated with AC and car adapter. I am happy that I saw this one at Amazon so I returned the Insignia to Best Buy. This one is region free. I can watch my favorite DVD from Asia. The sound is loud enough so I can enjoy watching movies while cleaning the dishes with water running. I will use this for the trip with my child. This comes with a battery, so my child can also watch the movies in the restaurant while plugging in an AC or vehicle adapter is not an option. It is not too heavy and it's easy to carry around. The price is very reasonable and I am very happy about it.

At first I thought I had been sent the wrong player since the screen seemed smaller than I had expected. When I checked my order I saw that the entire unit measures 12 1/2 in. while the screen is slightly over 10 in. Once I charged the player I was delighted to find that the picture quality is great and the sound is so much better than my old portable player. I got it on a “lightning deal” so it was a great value. I will be trying it tonight with my walking tapes; I think it will be exactly what I needed. Sue H.

Looks and sounds ok. Visually the picture quality would have been better with a real LCD screen. With this cheap type you have to look at straight on. If you look at it from an angle it can be dark or gets negative. It's one of those cheap types. Contrast is high and there is some adjustments available but not much. The brights are bright and the dark areas are black. If you turn up the brightness to balance it out the whole picture gets blown out. Sound is ok and loud enough but could be a little better. Build quality is ok buttons and switches all ok. Kinda feels cheap like a toy though. Keep in mind this is not high end but neither is the price. The swivel flip screen is good and makes for nice versatility. Would have been cool if the car mount was included with this. Battery life is suppose to be 5hrs unless its drastically off I won't update. The screen size is larger than most or the standard 9.5inches. I like the bigger screen size on this. Overall this is a good player for the money. No regrets everything works smoothly and the way it should. There are some adjustments available through the menu system but I haven't had to change anything out of the box. I plugged in my bluetooth transmitter to hook up to my bluetooth speaker and it works with no problems. See my video. It's fine for on the go entertainment and you're not going worry to much about it bc of the price. Make sure you have a DVD not a Blueray disk. 😉

I am amazed with this product! The picture quality far exceeds the expectations I had before purchasing it. I really like that it comes with both power connecting options, the remote works really well but isnt needed to use it since the controls are on the device itself. I imagine it will work well when its in the car and I cant exactly get to the buttons. The speakers are adequate for how big it is, it isnt super loud but the kids didn't complain about not being able to hear it driving down the road. I also really like the different screen positions. I haven't found anything I don't like about this product so far.

I just received two of these DVD players for my kids, so this is my initial impression. So far, I am happy with my purchase. I read reviews on the previous model about the first purchase arriving broken or the sound not being very loud. I will have to say for this model, things are off to a great start. I have both the red and black color DVD players. Both DVD players work fine and the sound is good too. We are currently testing them out at home in our living room. Volume ranges from 0 to 20. I’m listening to my daughters at volume level 7, sitting in front of the screen, and I can hear it pretty well. My son is listening to his at volume level 10 from across the living room about 5ft away and I can hear his player pretty well too. We have a vacation coming up soon, so it will be interesting to see how road noise affects the sound, but each kid will have a headphone set too, so I don’t anticipate that it will be tough for the kids to hear their show. I’ll plan to update my review after we have some more time with each player. Initially, I did notice that fingerprints do appear easily on the buttons panel. I also hope that it is a durable player for a 4 year old and 2 year old. But so far, I am impressed with these DVD players.

I bought this DVD player for plane flights and to take where I have long waits, and I like how it is very lightweight and easy to use. I am happy with the sound and picture quality. I was looking specifically for a region-free player, and I've been able to play different region DVDs fine on this. I prefer not to take remotes with me when I am out because it's another thing to keep from losing, so I was glad that the buttons directly on this the player were laid out well and enough for my use on short trips. Regarding the remote, it's on the small size with buttons close together, and the lettering is white on light gray keys, so I have to focus a bit more. In the box, the player ships inside a shaped, protective bubble-wrap that was neat to reuse for travel until I find a case for it. Overall, this player is a very good deal for $53.

BEAUTIFUL PICTURE AND SOUND. WE LOVE THE CARRYING CASE. MY ONLY COMMENT WOULD BE TO COVER THE SMALL PARTS WHICH RUN THE MEDIA PLAYER BECAUSE MY SON ACCIDENTALLY HIT THE TOP OF THE MECHANISM WITH A DISC AND IT FELL IN THE BOTTOM OF THE PLAYER AND IN MY EFFORT TO SHAKE IT OUT , ANOTHER PIECE FELL DOWN IN THE BOTTOM. I BELIEVE THAT THE PLAYER IS LESS THAN 3 MONTHS OLD AND I PURCHASED INSURANCE ON IT. CAN I GET A REPLACEMENT. I HAVE ORDERED AN ieGEEK BUT 2 PLAYERS WILL BE FINE. ONE CAN STAY HERE AND HE CAN TAKE ONE HOME. HE LOVES HIS PLAYER HAS COULD OPEN A DVD STORE. PLEASE ADVISE.KINDEST REGARDS,EVA T. VEST
