Simple and painless
I've not previously used a blood sugar monitor but, having been diagnosed as pre-diabetic, I need to keep an eye on improvements resulting from diet changes and weight loss. I chose this Sinocare Safe AQ one as it appeared easier to use than others - and, in practice, this has proved to be the case. The quick-start instructions and the more-detailed user manual were easy to understand and I was able to make my first blood test within minutes of opening the pack. A little trial and error was required to find the optimum setting for drawing sufficient blood from a finger, but it was a painless process and the result was rapidly announced on the Smart Meter.I had forgotten to buy some control solution (since ordered) to check that the device was correctly calibrated, so - although the results seemed to be in the correct range, I can't yet be sure of their accuracy. The voice reminder and spoken results seemed useful, but were probably an unnecessary extra because the results were clearly displayed in large letters on the meter and there is a memory function too should you need to double-check.The kit was well presented in a box containing the meter, lancing device, manuals and, surprisingly, two AAA batteries (which the description specifically states are not included!). The meter, lancing pen and batteries were in a little zipped storage bag - which would have been significantly more useful as a carrying bag if it had been larger and capable of holding a box of lancets and one tub of test strips too. Annoyingly, the supplied lancets and test strips have to be carried separately.Overall, however, this Chinese-made kit appears to be made up of good-quality equipment that will enable me to monitor my blood sugar levels quickly, easily and painlessly.

Just as advertised - great
I was recommended to keep a check on my blood sugar levels and advised this Blood Sugar Tester would be ideal.I bought it and have no regrets. It works perfectly and is very easy to use once I had the hang of the instructions - for me, a little complicated but now the item is 'second nature' to use.Delivery was in good time and the item came well packaged and in good order.

Accurate, good value, easy to use, but too basic for me.
Unlike some other reviewers my device had high repeatability. that is repeated tests came out the same.I also came close to a high end blood sugar monitor. However do not expect blood lab accuracy. The European standard is only plus or minus 15%. And, this device would appear to come withing that. It's very easy to use.Things I didn't like:No app and only stores the last four readings. No ability to add a note or icon such as fasting, before a meal, after a meal. The lancettes are just sharp fine wire not a 'sharpened lancette'. However they are the same size as Bauer's as used in the Contour Nextdevices and those are properly sharpened lancettes which have a very low pain level.A higher end device only costs some £10.00 more. And, such a device comes with Bluetooth syc. and app. bigger memory and the ability to make comments. So in summary this is a very good basic device and it can be relied upon. It is not my preferred choice.

So simple and easy
I had a blood sugar monitor a few years ago which was big and cumbersome and I stopped using it cos it was a pain. This one is amazing. it's tiny, fits in a case about 10cm by 15cm and is so simple to use.The instructions could be better. they appear on a folded sheet which when unfolded shows you the steps in the wrong order. So just keep an eye on the numbers of the steps to make sure you are doing it in the right sequence. Also there are diagrams, but these werent so clear cos in parts they use a grey shading that graduates out to white which is difficult for older eyes to read.At first I thought it wasnt working cos i couldnt prime the lancet to prick my finger at all. It took me a few minutes to work out the steps. Clearer instructions and diagrams would be useful.Once you've worked out the steps you will be fine cos it's actually very simple. The kit comes with little pots of a) lances and b) blood-reading strips. There is room in the case for one pot held under an elastic band. I put my pot of strips there cos they are delicate. There was no 2nd elastic band for the lances so I put a few in the mesh compartment on the right. The individual lances are protected with a blue cover and cap so they will survive bumping about in the mesh. But a redesign of the case would let you store a pot of 50 lances and 50 strips, being protected, at no risk of falling out, and being used up at the same rate so it's obvious when to reorder. This unit is very good value and really simple to use. So I would recommend it.

Great product. Accurate and easy to use.
This is an excellent product. I'm very pleased with it. As a newly diagnosed type 2 diabetic, it's been invaluable in working out my peak times and what foods affect my blood sugars. It's helped massively in adjusting my diet, eating times and increasing daily exercise at the best times to reduce my levels. It's easy to use and pretty much pain free once you get the setting right for your skin thickness. I would recommend starting on 5 and increasing by 1 point at a time if 5 doesn't work.I've been using it every day since I bought it and simply wouldn't be without it now.The carry case makes it easy for you to take everything you need with you wherever you go.The other thing I should add is make sure the machine is on a flat surface and you have put the reading strip in before you use the lancet and draw blood. Then take your finger to the strip/machine, rather than the other way round. The machine needs to be stable and in one position.Thank you sinocare! Very pleased.
