A Very Handsome Brand New Invicta 42mm Stainless Steel Pro Diver_Day 1
Just today received my new Invicta 42mm Silver Pro Diver Model 21978 with the stainless steel jubilee bracelet from Amazon. Delivery from Amazon was quite fast, in 2 days as promised. The watch arrived in the classic yellow Invicta watch box including the standard instruction manual and Invicta polishing cloth. Given the price point, the build quality for this watch appears to be well above my initial expectation.Took it to my local jeweler who quickly sized it to my 7.25" wrist. As you can see from the photo, at 42mm, this watch is rather large, but is very much to my liking. The black dial with silver indices and silver markings on the black bezel is very readable. Although the design is clearly a homage to the Rolex Submariner, the Invicta branding makes it clear that this is not a Submariner. And, at $75.50, the value of this 200M dive rated watch is extraordinary. The bezel rotation and crown action is very positive and very smooth. The jubilee bracelet is comfortable and quite adequate. The Seiko NH35A Japanese automatic movement has a long history for quality and mechanical accuracy. I have not been a fan of Invicta watches in the past, however, I love the way this Invicta Pro Diver looks on my wrist and like the overall quality. I plan to provide a more in-depth review after a few months. If you are thinking about buying this 42mm Pro Diver and have any questions about this Invicta watch, please do not hesitate to leave a comment.Update 03/10/2021Its been three weeks since I received my new Invicta 42mm Diver and I am so thrilled with it that I could not wait a few months to post an update. This watch looks and feels so much better than expected. The quality at this price point is nothing short of amazing. I have worn it on and off together with my Seiko SKX007 pretty much every day, and will often keep it on to sleep at night with no issues. The black dial with white lume indices is crisp and easily readable. The bezel is piano black with silver minute marks which provides a nice compliment to the black dial. It also lines up perfectly with the chapter ring and the rotation, although quite firm, is smooth and precise. The lume is not as good as a Seiko SKX007, but it is quite adequate. With a 30 second charge, the lume will pretty much last all night. The Japanese NH35A caliber movement is a real workhorse, is quite reliable, and makes for a great daily tool watch. The jubilee bracelet is very attractive and is quite comfortable. After having it sized by my local jeweler, I decided I needed to tighten it up a bit which I was able to do very easily with the 4 micro adjustments on the clasp.I really cannot say enough good things about this 42mm Submariner homage. I have never been a fan of the oversized Invicta quartz watches, however, this 42mm automatic is something quite special to me. Some reviews have criticized the Invicta branding on this diver, however, I tend to like it and think it adds its own charm to this beautiful timepiece. If you can find this watch at or below $75 dollars, I would not hesitate to recommend that you make the purchase. You will not be disappointed!

Good gift!
I bought this watch as a Christmas gift for my friend, and he seems to be enjoying it. The watch fits him well and he likes the style. He's mentioned that it's comfortable to wear and that he appreciates the easy-to-read face. He's also mentioned that it's held up well to daily wear and tear.Overall, I'm glad I chose this watch as a gift. It seems to be a solid and reliable choice that my friend is happy with. While it may not be the most extravagant or high-end watch, it's a good option for someone looking for a straightforward and functional timepiece.

Great watch for the money
My husband works in an environment where he damages his watches often. He has a very expensive watch, that we have had to replace the crystal on several times. This watch is a great alternative! Looks great, and works well!

Very solid for the price
Considering the price, this is a pretty good watch. It looks nice, runs very accurately, and feels well-built. Plus, it has a very common Seiko designed movement, so it's reliable and parts should be easy to find. I've had this watch for about a month now, and I've been fairly impressed with it. Definitely worthy of a daily-wear watch in my opinion.

Mixed Bag
For all the grief that Invicta gets for their over the top styling choices, their automatic Pro Diver watches are quite good. The 42mm Invicta Pro Diver 29178 is a step up in size from the well known 40mm 8926. For those with larger wrists that don't want to go with the huge 47mm Grand Diver series, it is a good balance and offers good wrist presence without looking like an oversized watch. The good: The watch itself is great. It has the Seiko NH35 movement, which is rock-solid and a decent performer that includes hand winding and hacking. The size is perfect for my 8.25-inch wrist (the 40mm 8926 is just too small). The case is well finished if you can get over the "Invicta" etched into the side. The magnifier is placed correctly, which is hit and miss on Invicta watches apparently. The bracelet is quite easy to size as it uses push pins in the links, so pretty much anyone can remove/replace the links. The not-so-good: The coin edge bezel is pretty solid feeling with little play, but quite stiff. The coin edge is thin and given the stiffness of the bezel movement, turning it a fill rotation hurt my fingers. I'm sure it will loosen up over time. The lume dots are different than what Invicta uses on their other Pro Diver and Grand Diver watches. The two pictures show this watch first, then the 40mm 8926 model, which is similar to the other Pro and Grand Diver watches. You can see that the lume dots are less pronounced and flatter with a smaller, thinner ring. The bad: The jubilee bracelet is the low point on this watch. At this price point, they had to cut corners somewhere, and as good as the rest of the watch is, it's obvious that the bracelet is where the cost savings occurred. It uses hollow end links, a stamped steel clasp, and rattles. I prefer the clamshell style on the Grand Diver and smaller 8926. Of course one can always replace the bracelet with something decent, but that adds to the cost. The Pictures: This watch next to a 40mm 8926, then a 47mm Grand Diver 3045, then a 45mm titanium Pro Diver 0420.Conclusion: For those with larger wrists who like a slightly larger watch, this is a very good upgrade to the 8926. The bracelet is the low point, but it can be replaced if it offends too much. It is hard to do better in a decent automatic dive watch at this price point.
