Good design and works well
Its a good solid well thought out design except there is no protection for the locks from the elements. As a result, rainwater sits in the locks and grit and detritus get washed in.Yesterday it took me two hours with a can of WD40 to get the locks to function so that I could open the garage. The keys came out with rust on suggesting that the internals have gone already. So, the product is good but the supplied locks are not of the same quality. If you are thinking of buying this, think also of buying some waterproof locks to use with it.

I feel like my garage is a lot more secure!
Installed this today, install was fairly easy but would have been easier if there wasn’t a slope leading up to my garage door, but the plates are able to bend enough to compensate for the slope. The only downside to this is that the locks are separate keys, it would have been better if both locks used the same key but other than that I can’t fault it.Update (a month or so later.) - The actual locks are really cheap quality locks, they're already showing signs of rusting which is going through the lock and onto the actual metal of the bar so I'll have to look at replacing the locks with some better quality ones shortly because they're becoming harder to lock/unlock every week.

The original but definitely not the best...
Thin steel, wouldnt even need an angle grinder or sledge hammer to get by this puny garage defender. Should have known by the price. Best get 2 sold secure defenders.

Great product, shame about the supplied locks.
Great product but the locks are very cheap and are definitely not designed with the intention of being left outside. Supplied with non branded locks which after a short period time suffered from water ingress and corrosion. I have since replaced the locks for IP rated Abus Diskus locks which now work perfectly. The actual product (defender bar) works great and is made to a good standard. I would definitely recommend this product i but would not use the supplied locks.

Poor Design. Worse Customer Service. Waste of Money. Needs my design Modification!
OK. Let's start at the beginning and explain how the product is meant to work before I explain why it doesnt. This deadlock fits across your garage door face to prevent it being opened if the normal door lock is overcome.Unfortunately the design of the product is poor and I am amazed that no-one else has experienced my problem previously and suspect that all prior feedback is provided on units which actually offer no significant additional protection from theft because they are not actually fitted properly.(Noting the sellers own image you can see the door bar fits tightly against the door face to stop it from being opened.)The locking bar is placed onto, and then secured in place onto 2 locked eyelet plates which are bolted into the floor. The design issue with this product is that when the bar is removed and the door is opened, the eyelets on the floor plates can foul the bottom of the garage door when you open it... this means you need to set the locking bar quite far enough away from the door face (by one hole pitch as it happens). This means that the garage door itself could be peeled open like a sardine can from the side if the main garage door lock.is circumvented (because the door can be opened to approx 5-10 degrees before it hits the locking bar) fornthe reason that you have to set the whole assembly away from the garage door because of that eyelet position! So. This product is fine if you're happy to set the locking bar 12" away from garage door face and are only interested in a deterrent. I do not think this product actually offers any protection whatsoever for the cost.Worse bit about this product? (other than it doesnt really work as intended). The customer service, 2 emails to them asking for confirmation of where fixing loops should have been welded (just in case manufacturing error) but I never got an answer to that part. The only response before seller got bored with me was to state that no one experienced this problem before and "have I read the instructions?"A total waste of £80 if your actually serious about security.Oh finally, to the seller; if you fitted the 90 degree brackets to the bottom of your bar that had a longer leg length at the bottom, the floor plates could be fitted so they don't then foul the garage door because the main locking bar would be offset further from the eyelet. Your product would always work for any situation and be an fail safe poke-yoke installation for customers. You're welcome.
