ALMOST perfect for my purposes
I'd really like to give this device 4 1/2 stars, but of course I can't. I've been playing through EBS amps for years, so when I wanted a DI box for recording and PA-only gigs, I spent the extra money relative to comparable products (e.g. Aguilar Tone Hammer) for the EBS. No regrets. The signal and control routing is a bit eccentric, and it takes a little time to figure out how to use it, but I'm getting wonderful tone into my recording console now - even better than I get out of my "real" EBS amps, for some basses/registers. The feature set is thoughtful and complete. My one complaint is that the "Drive" distortion circuit isn't as nice as the one in my EBS Drome and HD350 amps. The one in the amps is wonderfully smooth and subtle. The one in the Microbass II is much more aggressive, and I only find it usable when it's barely engaged.

TONS of options with this pedal if you are willing to figure them all out.
This is a great Bass Pre Amp with a lot of features and as they say built like a tank. It's not made from die cast aluminum but folded steel much like you would see in industrial machinery. You have a lot of options with the controls, the manual briefly describes their function but really to figure out this pedal you need to spend some time with it, days maybe weeks. If you look at the few youtube videos on this pedal they are all pretty much worthless. They show them fiddling with the knobs, pushing buttons but really have no idea what they are doing. The distortion is really nice on this pedal once you figure out it's nuances. The sound is more what you would hear from a distorted tube, not just a bunch of fuzz like so many "distortion" pedals claim. This one doesn't cut the lows, you can add a bit of grunt or have it sound very dirty. It all depends on how much you drive it (with your bass, channel A or B or both). The cons of this pedal of course it can be convoluted, the schematic diagram of this thing must have been a nightmare. There is no bypass, it says it does as of writing this but it doesn't, you have A/B and mute, and mute isn't a bypass. Plugging in your headphones your bass sounds great but if you plug in music in the return the sound through that input is poor for an aux. -1/2 star for the cons.TONS of options with this pedal if you are willing to figure them all out.

Bassplayers' Survival Tool
Very versatile, great sounding and solidly built .... only the printings on the edge seems a tad too faint ... hardly legible at all.

EBS Microbass II
I did a lot of research before I purchased this and I have to say it has been great. I use it with my upright bass and run directly out of it to the board...it has really warmed up the sound. Great product.

This sounds amazing
I bought this to replace my MXR Bass DI and it was worth every penny. I would recommend this for any bass player who cannot have a traditional amp and cabinet on stage.

Excelent preamp, built like a tank
Excelent preamp, built like a tank, a solid pice of gear, it have many features, the EQ section is very good, and you can use the FX loop to connect music (mono) to play alone with headphones.

Fantastic
I have been looking to use this pre amp ever since its appearance on the market. The duel input is great and allows me to switch between my NS upright and stingray.I find the Eq also gives my Rickenbacker 4003 a beautiful warm woody tone.I primarily use the EBS for practice via headphones and it's like having a portable mixing desk in my bag.I really do feel I have that EBS sound wherever I go.A fantastic tool Indeed.I hope to update this review in due course as I spend more time using it.
