A great new way to grow macro algae and add a refugium! Now you can easily reduce organics/nitrates as well as grow natural foods (copepods, amphipods) for your fish! The reactor can simply sit underneath your aquarium (extra tubing may be required), next to your aquarium or next to your sump: taking up very little space. The package includes an AquaMaxx Media Reactor, 5` of vinyl tubing, water pump and a high-output Accel Aquatics LED strip. Simply wrap the LED strip around the media reactor and secure it with zip ties. Place chaetomorpha, caulerpa or other macro algae into the reactor and install it like you would a regular media reactor. The close proximity of the high-output LED strip gets as much light to the macro algae as possible and quickly grows the macro algae. As macro algae grows, it will consume nutrients in the water. Once you harvest the macro algae, the nutrients are then removed from your system. The macro algae in the reactor also makes a perfect safe haven for copepods and amphipods to reproduce: providing a natural food source for your aquarium.
