how do I fasten the zinc anode to the pool light?

You will need to take the light out. The light assembly is held in place by a set screw at the top of the light that goes through the light rim and the bucket. This brass screw is also your grounding screw. Put the light assembly on the pool deck. Use a towel so you don’t scratch the glass lense. Now you will see the metal band that holds the light housing to the lense assembly. You will slide the ring end of the zinc anode onto the end. You will either need to use another stainless steel nut to attach to fasten it, it use the nut that keeps the light together. Hold the anode up against the light assembly and put the light back into the water into the housing and replace the set screw. You don’t see the zinc anode for a pool light, it sits behind the light in the pool wall.

how long is the chain?

The attachment cable is around 2 to 4 inches. I installed it on my underwater light because it was turning the chrome frame black. The installation directions come with the zinc anode. My light is still shiny chrome after almost a year.

How is this attached to the light?

Typically attaches on the back side of the mounting screw inside the niche. Leave behind light in niche.
