Great series for kids in the upper elementary and Jr. High range...but, really, I purchased it for myself, shhh, don't tell. The story line is just too well done, the characters fleshed out so nicely, and the humor is enjoyable. All this gives the entire Bone universe such a warm, exciting feel. I ended up purchasing the library binding of the entire set because after reading them all, I concluded our family can get so much out of multiple readings. My son is five and loves to have me explain the pictures to him. We are going to try play acting bits of the story together. A great alternative to electronic media, these books will wake up your kid's mind and revive your own stagnating adult imagination. What better way to transition children from hyper visual electronics to reading than combining the action-packed artwork of Jeff Smith with his epic writing. It's Lord of the Rings for kiddies. Review: I'm glad I had a kid or I'd have never gotten into this series - I remember seeing this on the shelf of the comic book store I'd frequent in my twenties. Shoot it was probably at Borders when I worked there my college sophomore year. A decade later, looking for appropriate, gripping stories for my nine year old a very helpful man at "All in a dream" (which according to Yelp reviews I must have been appropriately respectful of his collection) proffered this series. I had thought "Bone" was some Disney crap storm along the lines of "Kingdom Hearts" (excuse me I'd rather play the quintesential RPG - Final Fantasy). Back to "Bone." Classic character types and good tension. Of course it is about good vs. evil. But what story isn't. There's thwarted romance, hidden lineage. You know the good parts from fairy tales and dramas. If only my son would read them faster. I'm glad he does read them though. He loves the series and the books serve as an excellent reward for focusing in school and helping around the house.

Great!!
My 7 year old boy LOVED all the Bone graphic novels. He read each book in one sitting. He was absolutely engrossed. He wrote about the series multiple times at school during his writing assignments. He says it's his favorite series.

you feel as though you are a part of the action and have to follow them to the end as they meet more fantastic characters. Every person
Once you start reading about the Bone cousins and their troubles, you feel as though you are a part of the action and have to follow them to the end as they meet more fantastic characters. Every person, animal, and creature adds to the adventure of the Bone cousins as they try to make a new life for themselves and uncover secrets about other characters past which will impact their future. The book act is vibrant with lots of details to the characters (human and other) as well as they scenery around them.

Son loves it
My son is 8 and checked the first 2 books in the series out of the library at school. He loves the Bone books and complained that the school only had 1,2 and 8. I decided to buy the rest of the books in the series and after he is done, we will donate the books to the library so other children can enjoy the entire series as well. As soon as #3 arrived he got exited and started reading immediately.

Best book ever I really like the book. It’s really interesting and I’m doing this for you for all of the books so I don’t have to do it for each individual one they really like all the books. I read it and this is the second time we will be reading the book series, please make a continuation. The book is so interesting. I really wanna see what Boneville looks like.

Absolutely hilarious with great characters, an amazing amount of movement in the illustrations too when there is action. Best to start with the first one, Out From Boneville, to really get the most out of this one, the third. Skip the 2nd one, the Cow Race, as it is a let-down and adds very little to the ongoing plot. By the 3rd one, it is clear that this is one of the truly great graphic novels, and with loads of laughs too, which you can hardly say about other brilliant graphic novels like Maus, Jimmy Corrigan, The Sandman series, Fun Home, Watchmen or Batman - The Dark Knight.
