Anne Shirley accepts a teaching position at a girls boarding school in a town dominated by a rich and belligerant family determined to make her life miserable. Anne Shirley, now a schoolteacher, has begun writing stories and collecting rejection slips. She makes the acquaintance of a handsome, rich, bachelor, (jumping to a wrong conclusion, she and Diana chased down Rachel Lynde's cow, thinking it was Dolly) & immediately sold it to John Blythe. [When she realizes her fault, Anne & Marilla do a special visit to Rachel Lynde & her longtime husband, Thomas. During this visit, Thomas Lynde dies & Rachel Lynde became a widow!] and wins (to her chagrin) Rolling's Reliable baking soda (that was forged by Diana) company's writing contest. She acts as Diana's maid of honor, and refuses Gilbert Blythe's marriage proposal; which sends her to teach Kingsport Ladies' College, an exclusive all girl students' school, where she meets opposition from the principal, Miss Katherine Brooke, and the Pringle clan (one of whom is the rich, handsome bachelor). But while Anne won the numerous conflicts & battles, and the friends she makes, she returns to Avonlea.

LOVE LOVE LOVE THIS
I couldn't wait for this to arrive i wish i had ordered it years ago. It arrived on time but i had to wait till the following day to try out the first dvd of the set of three. Anne of Green Gables. I was clapping my hands with excitement waiting for the film to start. The last time i had watched this film i was a teenager i am now 37 years old and it still made me feel just the same as when i watched it all them years ago. I loved it!! I Haven't got around to watching the two other dvds that come in the set as i didn't want to watch them all at once i want to savour the experience. Im sure they will be just as good quality and pleasure to watch. I now myself am the proud mother of a 16 year old beautiful daughter with gorgeous red hair. We watched it together my daughters first viewing and we very much enjoyed it. It was so nice to share the lovely film of Anne of Green Gables with my daughter and was glad that she loved the film as much as me. My daughter having red hair understood some of what Anne went through. My daughter gets some friendly name calling about her hair but there are also some nasty people in this world that say the most awful things and truly mean it about red/ginger haired people. The people that truly mean the hateful thngs they say about red heads are horrible and stupid. Red/ginger hair is beautiful. Anyway i would like to finish off by saying do not hesitate in ordering this dvd set of three Anne of Green Gables films. BRILLIANT love it so much. I so so hope if you do order this that you get as much pleasure out of watching it as i have so far. Still two more films to go, i can't wait :))) Mandy from Hertfordshire England xxxxx

Outstanding Version of All Time Classic!
I doubt if a better version of the much loved Anne of Green Gables books has ever or will ever be made. The casting is sublime - Megan Follows is Anne in spirit and looks and the early episodes bring the books to vivid, colourful life. The Canadian countryside is stunning and with excellent portrayals of Matthew & Marilla, Gilbert Blythe, Diana and the other favourites, this is a DVD to curl up and enjoy again and again. The story is faithfull to the books for the first DVD and the sequel, however the continuing story is written independently but is still enjoyable as Anne and Gilbert live through the horrors of WW1, and Diana and her husband as well as catty Josie Pye are on hand to draw us into the next tales. The actual DVD does have some glaring faults. To offer no subtitles in this day and age is unforgiveable - the lack of chapter selection means that re-watching your favourite (weepy!)scenes is a fiddly process, but I am pleased to report that unlike one reviewer of the individual DVD's I found that there were no problems whatever with the speech and the picture going out of sync.Every household should have a copy of this classic. It is one to watch again and again with family and friends of all ages!

Beloved Anne - Or Cordelia as she would prefer to be known
Anne of green gables touched my heart as a little girl. Both through the books and the through this wonderful rendition. Megan Follows is perfect as Anne. I loved this series so much I went to Prince Edward Island and pretended I was Anne on the lake of shining water and the beaches.(Albeit my hair is a mousy brown not red)I will admit that the continuing story is a little on the naff side. The beautiful Gilbert goes off to war. Blah - Don't think so.But Anne and the Sequel cannot ever be improved upon in my eyesBuy it, Watch it and immerse yourself in all things Anne. Perfect for a wet winters afternoon.

Anne of Green Gables boxset
I absolutely love this films, in the 1st you have the sweet, yet child-like Anne, who prefers her own imagination to that of others. What is so lovely about the 1st film is your introduction to all the characters and Anne's realizing she can fine a home in Avonlea and with the Cuthburts. What also great which features in all 3 films but in these 2, is how you see Anne and Gilbert (he's always liked Anne but she's stubborn)come together.Your constanstly wanting them to be together in the film.In the 2nd film you see Anne go off to work in an all girls school and we also have another possible love interest. In short these are beauty films to watch in regards of story, acting and overall entertainment.

FANTASTIC!!
I remember watching this on T.V years ago,so when I saw there was a DVD I wanted it so badly. I was a bit sceptical when I sat down to watch it because I thought I had maybe built it up in my memory. I certainly was not disappointed! It is fantasticly well done and not at all dated. For children who won't read, this is a great adaptation of the book. I will watch it again and again.

Ann of Green Gables
The Ann of Green Gables box set was very good for the first three discs following fairly closely in the spirit of the books. However, the forth disc seems to have been written for a modern American market and deviates completely from the books. This is why I graded it a four star and not five. The last disc is a 'behind the scenes' look at the productions which is interesting.
