Huge Hugs for Olaf
Do You Want a Hug? by Kevin Lewis follows everyone's favorite snowman, Olaf! He is on a quest for a hug...from YOU! Olaf tries to jump through the book, but can't get through. He decides that he will win your hug by playing a game of hide-and-seek. Do you think you can find him? This interactive book comes complete with an Olaf plush, perfect for hugging. Children will love to snuggle up to their very own Olaf while listening to this sweet tale. Parents can also choose to play hide-and-seek with the plush, truly immersing their children in the story.Just like the famous Elf on the Shelf, parents can also use adorable Olaf as encouragement for good behavior. Olaf is watching!Once again, Olga T. Mosqueda delivers flawless illustrations. I love how she incorporates snowflakes into Olaf's body. He is made of snow, after all. While simplistic in design, these illustrations will certainly capture the attention of little ones everywhere. And I am delighted that Sven makes another appearance!I found the story to be lighthearted and fun. I especially loved the surprise at the end! This book and plush set would make a perfect gift for the Olaf lover in your family.

Fun, but not as fun as I'd hoped
I bought this for my 9-yr old Olaf fanatic for her December birthday. I thought it was a fun idea, and both of my kids (9 & 11) enjoyed the hide and seek elements for a few weeks afterward. The book was nothing special, and was only read two or three times before being tossed aside. I also had to sew one of Olaf's arms back on the first day we had it, because he was not well constructed.I absolutely LOVE this idea, and at the time that I bought it, it was very difficult to find plush Olaf toys. If I had to go back and do it over, I probably would just buy a different plush instead of the full set. The hide-and-seek game makes it fun, but there are only so many places to stash a plush snowman before no one wants to play anymore.

Should have gotten the Elf.
I purchased this for my 7 year old son and 3 year old daughter. We don't have the Elf, so I thought this was perfect. Well, Olaf can't sit on his own. He's a small, lightweight stuffed Olaf. The Elf is definitely easier to pose. Olaf can just be propped up against something. If you're not interested in creating the elaborate scenes, than this one will do. You could save yourself some money and just buy a small plush Olaf. It would have been cool if his arms were bendable or he had beans in his bottom half (so he could sit upright on his own). But, he's nicely packaged in a keepsake box and the book is a nice hardcover. The kids loved it. If you're looking for an Elf on a Shelf "experience", I would go with the Elf.

Perfect
Perfect for little ones in families who do not do Christmas or to even bring out after Elf on the Shelf goes home. This is very winter generic. Great concept. Yes there aren't many words on a page, but meant to keep children entertained. The words are also large and short enough that a child learning to read could most likely read this book. Cute little story and surprise at the end of the story. Box and book are a pretty glitter to mimic snow. This will be a great winter long item in our home. Heck, since Olaf loves summer, he could be out all year long!

Good, just not what I was expecting
I was under the impression that this was going to be similar to elf on a shelf, however that is not the case. The book is about Olaf playing a game with your child so he can get a hug. My child who is four loves the book and the plush Olaf but it is not what I thought it was going to be. I wanted to use it as Olaf watching the kids to make sure they are good. Even though it wasn't what I was expecting we will keep it.

Worth it!!
The book is a bit hard to follow. It is worth it for the teeny Olaf. My 2.5 year old daughter does this every night!!

Warm hugs for all
Bought Olaf to be a sidekick to our elf, Jingles. That's not going to be the case. If you are looking to do the same, Olaf does not go by the premise of not being touched. Olaf encourages "warm hugs". Instead, we will have him playing hide-and-seek with our Christmas ornaments on the tree, hiding in a different spot on the tree every night, giving each ornament the warm hug he desires. Planning to stitch up his hands as they are felt pieces stitched to the arms, but I don't trust they'll stay. May also try to attach small magnets to his hands so he can hug. Definitely cute for Frozen fans.

3 month wait
Three month wait, and its not worth it.So I ordered this on the 20th october, it was apparently in stock at the time. It arrived today 20th january, no apology, nothing. Its basic, the toy is probably worth £1 its nothing more than a pound shop toy. The book is ok if your one. The story is dire, this is not a replacement for the elf on the shelf, we may use it as a prop for our elves but nothing more.Really dissappointed in Disney all they have done is jump on the elf on the shelf band wagon, yes frozen is a lovely film and that is why this sells. Not worth it at all. I am tempted to return it, wonder if I will get three months grace to return it. Go get an elf yes they are more expensive but the story is lovely and nothing beats the original elf. This is a one year whim nothing more

Fun and playful
Ok-I went back and forth deciding if I would return this item-I didn't like not being able to read the story before purchasing. I finally decided to crack it open...and loved it! I love the illustration style-beautifully done-not just stills from the movie. The story is simple and playful and funny. The plush isn't terrific, but it's a gift set with a book and I wouldn't expect more. I decided to bring it out tonight for my three kids with the intention of hiding Olaf elf on the shelf style for the next few weeks. They all loved it! Giggles all around-I had to re-read it for my 5 and 3yr olds twice before they started playing hide and seek with olaf while I continued to read it oh 15 more times for my 1.5 yr old who couldn't get enough and would scream excitedly at the last page every time! Lots of fun-worth the price already.
