WOODS VERMONT Hickory & Oak Smoked Maple Syrup, 8.45 OZ

I was introduced to the idea of smoky maple syrup about 3 years ago at the Metro DC Food Show. There were several vendors giving out free samples. It was quite a shocker. It's analogous to drinking fat free milk for 20 years, and then consuming a glass of whole milk. Boom! Moving forward, I like adding this syrup to BBQ Sauce, mixed drinks, breakfast sausages, etc. I've read other reviews which claim that the flavor is artificial, i.e. someone inundated this syrup with liquid smoke. I can neither prove, nor disprove that claim. All I know is that it's extremely bold and smoky (ahumado en Español), and another flavor to incorporate into my culinary palette. Finally, it's much cheaper than other brands; it's a specialty item, so paying more is expected. However, I do not want to pay over $20.00. Hence, I'm rating this product with 5 stars.

If you like flavorful, or spicy food?, there is absolutely nothing to dislike about this product ... except for maybe its price ... This used to be something you could pick it up seasonally at Trader Joe's - for around $8 for an 8 point something oz bottle..... NOW, that Trader Joe's stopped carrying it, not last year, not this year, it can cost you an arm and both legs online $15 to $40 for the same product ... that is called gouging ... Used to be I would give it as gifts to over a dozen friends and family who wanted, or demanded it ... Now, its me and mine only. And even there, you better show up Christmas day to get it ... or it's mine! And if you whine, you may get a good bottle of vintage and yet still cheaper ... by the oz, wine.

This was a bit expensive. But it did come in a well sized jug. Quality is good. Well packaged and quick delivery. Just a bit expensive was the only reason for the bit lower review.

I've been in food for 34 years and love to cook. This syrup has the taste I would expect from 8-12 hour slow cooked meat from a smoker, but sweet. I was blown away w the taste and can't wait to grill 3 or 4 different meats all w this product to see how it compares from one animal to the next. I'm definitely gonna have some on my ice cream tonight! Awesome stuff!

Unlike any other maple syrup I've had. When you open the bottle, you immediately experience the aroma of a well-aged bourbon. Just a few drops on pancakes, waffles, french toast, or in a glass of your favorite bourbon will produce an extraordinarily rich maple flavor enhanced by the bourbon essence. The finish is smooth, leaving a warm feeling on your tongue. I was originally skeptical about a bourbon-flavored syrup for breakfast, but I have been topping my pancakes with it for weeks now and absolutely love it. I also added a small amount to a glass of Buffalo Trace and was pleasantly surprised by the maple flavor. Highly recommended for anyone who likes breakfast and whiskey.

High quality and a good value. The bottle and label design made a pretty addition to a honemade country breakfast gift basket.

The packaging is nice so if you know someone who likes really smoky flavored syrup, this would be a nice gift.

I do like this product unfortunately the top to the bottle wasn't on tight and the syurp leaked. It was packed really well but paper and bubble wrap were all sticky.
