I’ve bought them multiple times over the past couple of years, and they consistently perform as expected. The bulbs do get very hot when not on a regulator, but I’ve never experienced issues with them overheating the lamp itself. Their longevity is also impressive—they last for several months before needing replacement. Using them with a regulation device to control when they turn on and off further extends their lifespan. They’ve worked perfectly in all the lamps I’ve used, and I appreciate that they come in a two-pack, which provides a convenient backup replacement. Bought for my chicken coop- not to provide amazing amounts of heat just to take the edge off for my girls in the middle of the frozen night. It’s been on every night now for the most part for about a month, I use it in a ceramic base as you should, I also dusted it off every now and again because bird dander is highly flammable (In fact, I think that’s why a lot of chicken heat lamps wind up causing fires; people don’t understand that that dust from your chicken feathers is like kindling). These are a much safer option. Great price especially for two. I can’t tell you exactly how hot they get and I should go into my coop with the thermometer in the middle of the night, but I can feel it when I’m in there and it’s just enough mild warmth to make their small space slightly warmer.

These heater lamps are the perfect environmental enhancement for my Sakata Tortoises. It is getting very cold here at night now. My two adult tortoises only come out now when the sun comes out. These lamps have a much larger surface area than the 75 watt lamps that I installed previously.
