A Genuine Salmon Super Stick!
Wow, what a great rod... and at a bargain price. I was shopping for a salmon/steelhead rod for fishing Oregon & Washington waters. I needed a longer rod with backbone, but did not want to sacrifice sensitivity. At my local tackle mega-shop, I looked at many rods -- from value-oriented name brands to expensive boutique sticks. Then I picked up this 9.5 foot, 2-piece, medium-weight Lamiglas X-11. Honestly, after a very careful comparison inspection, several flex tests, and balance tests with my reel installed, I could not see or feel any significant difference between this rod and the G. Loomis displayed right next to it at 4 times the price. The Lamiglas action and balance is first rate and the fit & finish are superb.I was very happy to pay Amazon $80 for this rod. I now have a serious salmon stick that casts and fishes as nicely as any of the very pricey rods I own. This Lamiglas just feels good in my hands -- and it's a real salmon catcher. I'm completely impressed and could not be more pleased with this excellent Lamiglas X-11. Check out these fine rods for yourself.

Great Salmon Rod
This is my second one of these X-11 rods and I love it. The beautiful burgundy finish, the cork handles, the ceramic guides (all 14 of them), the high quality reel seat with thru blank handle, and hook saver all make this a fantastic choice for river and ocean fishing. The point about the reel seat is important to me because this rod has the traditional type of reel seat lock that does not require you to spin the upper handle like other rods to lock down the reel. This means that when fighting a big fish, the upper cork handle will not spin if you need to grab it for more leverage. I have always admired Lamiglas for using the better kind of reel seat in their casting rods. I have my Lew's TP1S reel mounted on this and took it out casting spinners for salmon this morning. It casts like a dream. Lots of backbone, yet enough flexibility to cast well and far. This is a well made Lamiglas product that won't break the budget for a weekend warrior.

4 stars for value
Deffinetly great value in this rod. I’ve been using it for steelhead and browns on Lake Ontario tribe and it has outperformed my expectations of a $100 rod. Great backbone, good fast action, and I’m a fan of the reel seat placement. The guides leave a little bit to be desired, but I guess costs had to be cut somewhere in order to offer this rod at this price. Side note, this rod is Made in China. I didn’t know Lami outsourced rods, but found out by the sticker on the butt

Rod broke while fighting a fish first time being used!
I took my new rod out for the first time this past weekend. I was pretty impressed after fighting and landing a couple steelhead but that ended quickly when the rod snapped clean right past the junction while fighting the third fish. I was shocked because it was brand new and I didn’t have a whole lot of pressure applied. I was expressing my shock back in camp and another guy asked is that a X11. I replied with a yes and he said “yeah, they’re known for that! I wish I’d known that prior to buying!

It appears to be an excellent Steelhead fishing rod
It appears to be an excellent Steelhead fishing rod; the description here at Amazon however is incorrect !! The correct Lure weight on this rod is 1/8-5/8 and not 1/4-3/4 which is what I wanted. Before ordering I checked it on the Lamiglas webside to be sure I was ordering what I wanted. It appears to be a well constructed and finished with nice guides fishing rod, so I'm anxious to get my first steelhead on this fishing rod to see how it behaves under stress and stress it will have !! very good price also, compared to others I saw before ordering this one. I do have two others however, an 8'6" and a 9'. This is a 9'6".

Quality of rods seems to have gone down. Actually ...
Quality of rods seems to have gone down. Actually broke 4inches of the tip off while casting a standard buzz bomb. Have 4 other lamiglas rods and this has never happened in four years prior.

This pole is great. I have 3 of them
This pole is great. I have 3 of them. However, the packaging was terrible. It arrived in a box that did not have much separation packing and the two pieces had rubbed together, scratching one section of the pole and bending one of the eyelets. I was able to straighten the eyelet. I will live with the scratches because I'm pretty hard on them myself and they will be scratched up soon anyway. So, this low review is not for the pole itself.

This pole has very good action and looks to be made well
This pole has very good action and looks to be made well. The screw and saddle that hold the reel in place are plastic and not very well made. My ole shakespear reel would not fit with the screw nut backed all the way back and I had to cut away some of the cork to get it to work. Over all I like the rod.

Heavy weight, average quality guide rings
It is a well made rod, blank looks good, even, and good finishing. The 86mh has a lot of backbone, but lacking of delicate tip. It feels like a stick. It is heavier comparing to okuma SST, Fenwick hmx, and shimano Claus. It feels like a okuma celilo with lower grade guides. Those ceramic rings feels uncoated, no smooth at all. It shouldn't break any line, but it is unacceptable for a lamiglas rod.
