Wooden Dowel Rods - 1-1/2" x 36" Unfinished Hardwood Sticks - for Crafts and DIY'ers - Craftparts Direct - Bag of 25

We are truly well pleased.It was impossible for us to find 'turned' - 'unfinished' - 'hardwood' dowels of this diameter & length...until we found Craftparts Direct here on Amazon.These dowels (we've purchased the 2"x36" & the 1-1/2"x36") are being used asJapanese Rolling Pins [MenBou 麺棒 - めんぼう] for traditional noodle-making.They are perfect. Truly beautiful lathe-work and well finished (i.e.-sanding).These dowels didn't require any extra sanding attention.They don't come with a glass-finish, but we couldn't ask for smoother or better from a raw-wood supplier.We've gently softened the edge of each end and then the pins were conditioned with (food-grade) Walnut Oil.We used La Tourangelle Roasted Walnut Oil, as that's what we keep it for cooking.This process takes some patience.~ Rubbing on the Walnut Oil, then allowing the wood to 'drink it in' for 24 hours.~ Buffing the wood with a soft cloth, and then repeating the process...... over, and over, and over ... until the wood simply doesn't 'drink in' any more oil.Then give it a final 'super buff', and the pin is ready to roll out dough for noodles.The time it takes for this process is different for each piece of wood (i.e. natural material).However, most typically, it shouldn't take more than three to five days.Its not a 'difficult', nor 'labour-intensive' process...you just have to be patient in between applications as it takes time for the wood & oil to naturally do their thing.Once finished (no pun), you'll have a Truly Beautiful 'MenBou' [麺棒 - めんぼう] that will serve all your noodle-making needs for years to come.We Highly Recommend these dowels & Craftparts Direct for their fine craftsmanship.Palms Pressed...Thank you

A commercially market traditional pasta pin is hard to find and outrageously expensive If you do find it! It needs to be long and narrow - my 20-inch long and 2-inch wide fondant pin was not cutting it. After not finding any good options, I realized that a pasta pin is basically a food-safe wooden dowel, and set out to find a good quality one.These dowels are heavy and sturdy hardwood, not flimsy. They are extremely well made; no cracks, no warps, no sharp edges, no knots or holes. Just beautifully sanded and perfectly balanced. I seasoned mine with a good food-grade oil and that was literally all I needed to do. Now I have two beautiful pasta pins that will last me a lifetime!

While I have no problem with the product itself, I do think the marketing is a bit misleading. The product say a bag of 2, and shows a picture of 14 dowels, which seems like a fantastic value. I ordered what I thought was two bags of 14 dowels. I opened the package to receive 2 individual dowels. If I would have know that, not sure I would have spent the $28.

NOT a bundle as depicted. Picture should match what is delivered despite hiding the correct item amount in the text description. Won't buy from Craftparts Direct again.

Bought this dowel to replace an umbrella poll that had broken on a Pier One 9 foot umbrella that had broken. Lucky me, the umbrella pole diameter was 1 1/2" - which is a size that neither of the big box hardware store seem to carry - at least by me they don't. So, I ordered this dowel and was quite pleased with the quality. Although the listing did not specify the type of hard wood - the dowel that I received was made of maple. The dowel was nice and straight and was exactly 1 1/2". Work perfectly for my needs.

Mine are essentially flawless, sides sanded, dimensionally accurate to within about 1/100th of an inch plus or minus for diameter, one exactly 36 inches, one 3/32nd's short of that. While I don't like their dark pattern of showing a huge bundle for all quantities of packs, 2 of this quality, ***Fulfillment by Amazon***, is I think a fair price. They should do very well for my projects.

Arrived in good shape, no knots or warps in the dowel. Very happy with this purchase. Just don't be misled by the picture, as each order is a set of 2 dowels.

I bought these due to the price of 25 for hardwood dowels.Unfortunately, hardwood is not cheap, but i cannot blame Craftparts for that.The quality of the product did not disappoint, only one of the 25 dowels had noticeable deviations.

Excellent quality hardwood dowels. Used them for my gym wall. All dowels were strait with a smooth finish.
