Cats like this, but it is pricy
I feed this to my cats on an occasional basis because it is pricy. My cats do love it. The ingredients are good. I splurge a get a bag a couple of times a year and feed it as a “special meal” to both my cats. They get a treat meal.

Very high quality. Preferred. By monsters.
This stuff is really good. PROs: 1) Very high quality ingredients - zero fillers, 98% meat. 2) Extremely high processing standards (New Zealand - which has far higher standards than the U.S.). 3) Critters really dig it -- and now usually go on strike over their "regular" food, as you can see from the pic (Sigh). CONs: 1) The bags are 150% bigger than they need to be. The product settles to the bottom 1/2 to 1/3. Leaves too much air in there to oxidize. Why do this?? In fact, why not vacuum seal these suckers and get them shipped at half the cost? You could turn this into a small brick sized package. Anyway. 2) Insanely expensive. (But understandable given ingredients, quality, and shipping from NZ). They are available on Subscribe n Save.... but you save only about forty cents. Wicked expensive. (Sigh.) 3) This is possibly idiosyncratic -- our cats only eat it dry in the little weird pellet-ish form (like sawdust). When we add hot water to rehydrate to make 'normal' food texture, they respond with mild disinterest and it usually sits there all day with a only few nibbles taken out of the goo. Sot this perplexes me. Would that not be MUCH preferable? (I read somewhere that the zillions of little hairs on their tongues (for grooming) are very sensitive to textures and produce strong likes/dislikes...?) Having said that -- to be frank -- as long as they are drinking enough water (which these do), who cares? Less work for us AND... don't need to worry as much about spoilage throughout the day! So.... upon reflection... this is actually a "PRO" :-) Move to the other column. Win! Win!

ordered 20 times since 1st. Always a hit n good topper
Picky male ginger 15 lbs. (a few lbs over but losing slowly) , 2.6 yrs... Rescue who ate slugs, birds, bugs and squirrels but won’t eat most canned food except: Royal Canine, fancy feast gravy (never pates), and maybe he’ll eat some of the fancier/boutique type cuz I’ve bought all/any with a lot wasted. I know how to entice or introduce a new food and he turned his head and body from Tiki, Nulo, Wellness, Weruva, Dave’s, etc...He likes no pates. I had little option so started sum raw After switching the diet to add raw, he liked Stella n chewy but without an enzyme he doesn’t process too well. He Likes: Primal pork raw n that’s it for raw (same with Rad Cat pork) meaning he ate it readily and without trotting away after he’s been meowing for food (he can be excited for food time and hungry but if he doesn’t like it- he will not eat it and walks off). we still do can and primal freeze dried if it’s pork or the beef n salmon but tried this brand expecting it to be a no go but with a tiny nudge to his lips (god forbid he try a new food) he ate a small amount and some dry pieces. Today at dinner he ate eagerly so it’s part of the rotation. I’ve found an enzyme for hairballs with amylase and protase etc. to be useful with freeze dried for him. His hair is short but downy ginger and he vomited after awhile on Stella n chewy and hacked a line of hair so I don’t think it’s Their product per se, I just feel better with a bit of enzyme with freeze dried products HeAte !! This Will Re-buy!! Want to try a no fish one soon. Nice ingredients yet I believe in some grain which some Royal Canine (yep it’s a sure buy which I’m not thrilled but) packets a few days takes care of and I hear the Primal is high in minerals that a cat doesn’t need (?)... I add a good amount of very warm water to this and it’s easy to mix and makes a gravy instead of watery.

This cat food makes cats sick!
My 2 cats loved the flavor. Unfortunately, both of them threw up within 10 minutes of eating this cat food. I won't even feed it to the ferals that I feed daily outside. Don't waste your money like I did.

Sharp Bone Shards may not be wise for older cats - But an excellent product for other healthy cats.
This product seems very well sourced and made. However, although I would like to keep using - but after re-hydrating the product my (older) cat had a VERY difficult time swallowing the small, SHARP, bone pieces in the formula. For using the rest of the bag, I immersion blended the dry product, and then pressed through a screen collander (very time consuming), to separate out the tiny shards of bone. A young, very healthy cat should not have a problem with this product. Update May 24, 2025: Since April 2025 when I wrote my original review, I have purchased this 3 more times and am screening out anything that cannot go through a feeder syringe. A wonderful product and my cat enjoys it (shown by how he grabs at my hand to feed it to him). Update: Thank you! for your offer of a full refund, but NO, I do not want a refund. You have created a wonderful product, and I'm asking you to not change a thing. I wrote my feedback to be positive and honest information only, not to cause you any harm.

We love Feline Natural products!
This is my favorite freeze dried product for meals, but with the price point is high for a small size it’s better off as a topper to boost the nutrient value of something like Friskies or Fancy Feast. The pellets are small so as a topper they’re perfectly bite-sized. Also very easy to crush and mush in warm water or goat milk as a meal on its own. Feline Natural has an awesome blend of ingredients that provide a high protein content, and also recipes that don’t include fish. I like that they include NZ green lipped mussels for joint health. My cats LOVE mussels but I don’t like to buy whole freeze dried mussels since they’re really expensive so to include them in these recipes is a great bonus. The list of ingredients isn’t long and everything is recognizable. Smells like meat and everything that a cat’s proper meal should smell like. It isn’t over-powering or off-putting, but it isn’t appealing to humans of course. Lol. I feel confident when I feed this to my 3 cats that they’re getting a great, nutrient-rich meal whether I feed it alone or as a topper. My female cat, Mia, who is the most sensitive, never has any digestive issues after consuming FN. On top of that, all 3 of my cats LOVE every recipe FN has to offer. I’ve never had a single problem with them eating any of the recipes. Five stars. Love it. Just wish it wasn’t so expensive but it’s understandable as to why it is. (Occasionally our local independent pet store has free 1oz samples so I like to go there and check!)

Perfect kibble addition
My cat loves these freeze dried bites in her kibble. Great to add some extra protein.

Healthy Choice, But Not for My Picky Kitty
After hearing my friend tout its health and nutritional benefits, I was optimistic about introducing my one-and-a-half-year-old Selkirk Rex to Feline Natural's Grain-Free Freeze-Dried Cat Food, Chicken & Lamb. Despite its promise of a wholesome diet, it turns out that my little furball is not a fan. Even when I tried mixing it with her favorite canned food, she was hesitant to eat it, which was quite disappointing given the product's premium price. While the quality of the ingredients is undeniable, and I appreciate the brand's commitment to natural, grain-free nutrition, it's clear that not all cats will take to it. It might be a hit with other cats who aren't as particular about their food so I wouldn't write it off completely. If you have a cat open to trying new things and you're looking for a high-quality, nutritious option, Feline Natural could be a great choice. It might not suit all palates, especially if your cat is as selective as mine.
