Works great if the watermelon is nice and fresh 3 days or 4 days old watermelon too soft and it gets smashed

Followed the instructions both in these reviews and with the device. Cutting off the top and bottom make it a little easier. I have used this on about 10 melons so far and only once was it tough to get the slicer through the melon. I'll attribute that to that particular melon and not this gadget. However, one of the blades bent on that use (which is why the three stars instead of four).Prefer using this for watermelon as opposed to canteloupe as it is a bit trickier to clean after canteloupe.

This is MUCH MUCH larger than I expected it to be. I have no doubt that it will slice a melon really nicely but I thought I was purchasing something for slicing a small melon. This is huge and kind of a storage issue due to sharpness. I have not used it but it looks exactly like my apple cutter so I have no doubt that it works. 3 stars for storage issue and no indication of size.

I took a chance ordering this for my mom, as the reviews are quite mixed. I am so glad that I did! The slicer is quite sharp and will go through a thick watermelon. You do need some muscle to push it down, but it slices down to the bottom. The best feature is the knife--it is very long and sharp and is wonderful at not only cutting off the top of the watermelon, but great at cutting other large fruit and vegetables too.

this a very good! But you kinda need 2 people = one to push down - it's a little tough & one person to catch the slices! it is Cool though! i don't know Anyone else that has this! & the slices look like a giant flower when done! all slices are Perfect! the Only reason i didn't give it the 5 stars = it needs a bit of strenghth to push that watermellon through= Not the slicers fault though!

I knew it will be a bad purchase, I am ashamed of myself for making unintelligent purchase like this.Get a good set of kitchen knife (made in Germany) will save you a lot more trouble and storage space compare to buying useless, dumb looking product like this. And really, how hard is it to just cut a watermelon with knife?

I gave this for my d-i-l last year for Christmas. I asked her how she liked it and she said she loved it!!That it was fun slicing up small melons as well as the large watermelons. She warns that the blades are very sharp. So easy to use!!! I might get a set myself!

It was difficult for me to push down due to arthritis, but it performed as expected and I got nice even slices.
