worth the investment
A small book but the recipes are good and the directions easy to follow. The front of the book explains canning and the different types.

This book had the information I needed to make jam ...
This book had the information I needed to make jam without powdered pectin. This was very exciting. I plan on using other recipes.

There's really nothing of interest here
This book has basic canning recipes for jams, jellies, fruits, and pickled foods, and a few odd recipes like kimche and sauerkraut. But if you are an experienced canner, I don't think you'll find anything you can use in this book. Also, if you are a beginner, I would go with the Blue Ribbon Country Canning book instead; it has alot more recipes.

Lacking in Detail.
Marginally uselful book, overall. Sure, you get a basic overview of various preservation methods. One would expect some detail about ingredient selection, flavoring options, and so on. However, there's just the bare minimum amount of information necessary to describe the process and equipment, and nothing further. You'd be better served searching for canning and preservation articles on the internet. You do, however, get some recipes which are pretty straightforward and more useful than the rest of the text.
