Works perfectly!
Does exactly what is says on the tin. Measurements are instant and accurate, and the battery life pretty much endless. I've also had Wahoo HRM, very comparable. The battery is screw sealed, which is pretty good thing as most HRM failures are due to sweat and moisture getting into the battery compartment. The unscrew tool is provided should you need to replace the battery. This will work with any Bluetooth GPS unit, so connects to my Wahoo instantly.

Normally reliable, but this one simply fell apart
I have had several Garmin HRMs over the years without issue, but then swapped to an alternative brand just to test them - 2 failures later, I returned to Garmin with this HRM-Dual bought just over 6 months ago. Pairing was easy and I've had very few issues with connections or accuracy, although on occasion it seemed to be slow in picking up significant changes in heart rate, but settled down once it got there. However, after a week of inconsistent connectivity and a complete failure to log anything on my last ride, I decided to change the battery, only to find that the unit is literally falling apart. Replacing the battery hasn't changed anything and it won't properly go back together now - it's not the battery cover, but the unit itself that has separated along the top. It is no longer sealed, so not sweat resistant, and is failing to provide any data. I'm not going to wait for Garmin customer service to help and will probably just replace this with a new one. Not particularly impressed with the 6 month lifespan, but am willing to put it down to a bad spot of production on this one. Fingers crossed I won't be writing another review like this in 6 months!

Garmin sent me an upgrade for free after it prematurely failed.
It did fail after around 16 months but from heavy use, I contacted Garmin support and they offered me a free replacement.

Works perfectly. A gift for a cyclist who LOVES it.
The monitor synched up right away with the Garmin cycle computer and gave no trouble. Owner found the chest strap easily adjustable. It was unobtrusive and comfortable to cycle in. Functions such as the user's heart rate can be added from the monitor to the Garmin bike computer display for realtime information. The Garmin app gives access to the statistics collected with additional visual representations so there's plenty to look at after the ride. This monitor is simple to use and very helpful. All all-round sound purchase and a great gift.

Unreliable inconsistent data
This is my first Garmin HR monitor but I have used other brands and been very happy wit them with no issues. I have paired this with my Fenix 6 Pro and I get crazy data from it. Typically, after 15 minutes or so of running the recorded heart rate falls away to a resting beat even though I can feel my pulse manually is running at 170-180. I have tried Garmin support but they are just hell-bent on proving that I am doing something wrong rather than accept that I need a refund for a faulty product. Update. Garmin finally sent me a free replacement, god bless 'em but I have exactly the same issue as the original one so clearly there is either something incorrect about the way that I am using it or there has been a bad batch. In the end I lost patience and purchased a much cheaper Powr Labs product which is very similar but so far it has performed excellently - quick to pair, sensible, credible heart rate data, and can be used for the Garmin HRV functionality which I am a big believer in.

Works very well
Took a bit of fiddling to get it connected to my android but once the connection was established the first time, it now works like a charm. Also, my very old Android phone is rather temperamental with Bluetooth devices now, but this heart rate monitor still manages to work well. As an example, I use Strava for my multi hour mountain trips. During which, I may pause recording. If later in when I restart it I find the connection was lost (almost certainly issue on my phone side), it is a matter of switching Bluetooth off and on on my phone and that's it. My previous HR monitor wasn't as quick in re-establishing connection. Recommended.

Before I was using a arm band heart monitor but it was a different make and it wasn't accurate so I bought this one. The Garmin heart rate goes around my chest and it collects the data perfectly what it says. Fantastic kit

I got it to accurately monitor my heart rate during workouts where I have to take off my watch (mainly when boxing) it is very accurate and instantly connects to my garmin watch. Comfortable to wear even when I'm soaking in my sweat, I forget it's there. It measures my HR instantly and accurately during any workout. The only thing I noticed is that it tends to stop measuring for a few seconds sometimes and I don't know the reason for this. Other than that, it's a great monitor from a great brand

I do powerlifting and cycling and have never been able to get good metrics on the lifting side of it around how my heart is responding or how hard I'm actually pushing on top sets. This allows me to keep the watch protected and off my wrist but still have great insights into my sessions. No issues of any kind and the info shows up in Garmin connect in really easy to digest ways.
