A major text on the subject
Dr. Yang, Jwing-ming once again shows his fantastic writing skills and knowledge in this book--especially with his exposition of the Micro-Cosmic Orbit--and there is much more than that in this book.

These books are amazing but...
...if you own a lot of books from his series you will find much overlap... I own about 6 of his books and I enjoy the background knowledge he provides and the historic aspects of everything but i find alot of the same material in multiple books so I end up skipping sometimes the first half of these massive books because I have already red variations of the same basics. Either way I think they are a great resource but I would rather they would make some the books in the series with just the information needed. But I guess this is a good way to make individual if someone just reads one but for someone like me it can become slightly frustrating paying over 20 dollars to for 400 page book when the first 200 pages are all reworded references from other books...

This book answers lots of questions I had when reading Da Mo's Muscle/Tendon changing
As I said, "This book answers lots of questions I had when reading Da Mo's Muscle/Tendon changing". Rephrasing ideas and modifying their presentation help in the clarification of the involved concepts. But like interesting books in general, this one requires two or three readings to settle the mind of the reader. So good luck, but I like it. However, I have to warn the reader: if you want a satisfying understanding of what it is written, you must experience what the author asserts and participate in his research; it's, I think, a necessary path to go into the book and enjoy it.

YMAA: Great Stuff!
The Books or DVD's are graet. They are very easy to understand. I still prefer DVD's to books when it comes to learning movements. All the YMAA products are well worth the money and will take you were you want to be in your training, health, and understanding. Thanks, Brooksy.

Another gem from Dr. Yang, Jwing Ming and David Silver
For those of you who have struggled to obtain correct and lucid information on Qigong Meditation, then this is one of a series of books that will lead you in the right direction. As those who are familiar with Dr. Yang's publications, the book is written in a style that is accessible and accurate. Much of the previous material available in English was short on explanation and long on symbolism and obscure terms that seemed to have no clear interpretation.Dr. Yang possesses an incredible history, with a background in martial arts combined with an unceasingly inquisitive, curious and intelligent mind. His goal, as I understand it, to make available accurate and true information on various martial arts styles, is commendable, to say the least. The book presents a wide range of information, with the following sections:Chapter 1 General ConceptsChapter 2 Theoretical foundationsChapter 3 Four RefinementsChapter 4 Five RegulatingsChapter 5 Theoretical root of Small CirculationChapter 6 Embryonic BreathingChapter 7 Important Points in MeditationChapter 8 Small Circulation Meditation PracticeChapter 9 Questions and Possible Human FutureChapter 10 ConclusionChapter 6, Embryonic Breathing, is not a complete study of the subject. As Dr. Yang mentions in the book, the reader would be advised to purchase the book Embryonic Breathing and study it, preferably before beginning this book, or at least the chapter on Embryonic Breathing. It is an excellent book and provides the student with a solid understanding of the role of breathing in Meditation and qigong. As the capable and talented editor David Silver mentions in the Editor's Note, some of the readers might already be familiar with some of the chapter topics. However, although it might be tempting to skip these chapters, especially if one had already read some of Dr. Yang's previous coverage of the topics, the reader would be well advised to read the book in its entirety. A true scholar, teacher, or any member of any profession, should constantly be trying to improve and correct their understanding of their relative field. Dr. Yang is one of these true scholars and his explanations continue to grow and improve with time. As David mentions, fundamental training is the heart of any system and should never be skipped, regardless of one's skill level. It's amazing to me that what seems the most complicated at times can actually be simple once it is understood, and what seems on its face value to be simple in nature is at its heart complex. I think of the saying, "find stillness in movement and movement in stillness". Just as in the Yin Yang symbol, each of the two opposites have the seed of each other. Such is the nature of meditation. I used to believe that there couldn't be very much to know in order to practice meditation. Yet, when one looks at the size of this book, coming in at 402 pages, it is obviously a subject of great depth.Thank the Taiji gods for Dr. Yang and his numerous contributions to the martial arts world. Along with this book, I would recommend to the serious student to purchase Dr. Yang's DVD titled "Understanding Qigong". As I began to watch the DVD, I found that I couldn't turn it off until it was complete. Although I have read numerous books on Qigong, including all of Dr. Yang's publications, as well as practiced Qigong for many years, I found that watching Dr. Yang talk brought a level of understanding that I had never before achieved. I was amazed at how effective he is as a classroom teacher. It is truly an excellent companion to the study of Meditation.I have not yet met Dr. Yang in person, although I have talked to him on the phone on a couple of occasions. When I do finally meet him, I will probably find myself bowing to him and stating "I am not worthy". And I mean that with the most respect. If you mediate already or are interested in learning about qigong meditation, then this is most likely one of the best books available on the subject.

Answers Questions about Meditation.
Qigong Meditation, Small Circulation, by Dr. Yang, Jwing-Ming, brings together research on subjects of Qigong, Meditation, and Human Bioelectricity, theory, scientific evidence, and ancient Chinese thought into one book that you will want to study, contemplate and then re-read a zillion times. This book will help you immensely as you move through your journey of understanding and comprehending the deep, profound ideas, concepts, and scientific facts that are presented to help you better understand “simple” methods of meditation. “Wow” is my best compliment for Dr. Yang Jwing-Ming’s book. He has a phenomenal ability to educate the world about meditation and Internal Elixir Qigong. You need this book if you have any curiosity about what meditating does to our body. You will want to read this book before you read his book on Qigong Meditation, Embryonic Breathing.I do have a book or two written by Dr. Yang, Jwing-Ming. Others have reviewed his books and have complained that some of the books have the same material. While this might be true, my view is quite different and very positive. No complaints here. Each time certain topics are presented in one book or the other, essential to understanding topic at hand, it is very clear to me that Dr. Yang makes a huge effort to ensure that the information being presented relates to the main subject being discussed. So, while it may appear the same, it is quite different. The difference ways in which Dr. Yang writes about similar topics helps delivers the reader a new perspective with a different focus. This book answers questions about this topic that I never knew I had. I am happy to have it in my collection.

Good in parts
This book purports to take a scientific view of the subject. Unfortunately this consists of statements such as the unconscious being located between the hemispheres of the brain, and that science has proved that we have 2 brains. Analysis is substituted for endless repetition and lists of what alternative names are used for different practices. If the claims for longevity resulting from some practices were even remotely accurate, there would be an awful lot of very old people around.Having said that, the author is very knowledgeable about the different approaches and lays out the broad spread of Qi Gong very well. This alone makes it worth reading.
