Netzwerk A1 Paperback – January 1, 2018

It took a really long time to arrive. It arrived in one of the last days of the expected delivery days. Also, it arrived with the cover a little bit damaged.

This program is disappointing. I've studied German (as a native English-speaker) for 20 years and have used many programs, including a deep-immersion program in München. I was hoping this would be a solid textbook for my child--es ist nicht.1. In the audio recording there is as much "Lesson 1, Section A, Dialogue 1" talk as there is actual German lesson. Distracting and waste of time.2. There isn't a solid progression + repetition in the lessons that is the hallmark of effective language programs.3. Probably the biggest issue: The book is heavy on photos, short on solid, language-building dialoges. More like tiny dialogue snippets tucked between photos in a magazine.My two cents to the publisher: get rid of your layout staff and double-up on people who really do know how to effectively teach language. We'd rather speak German than see a trying-too-hard layout with a million colors & photos with cursory German sentences stuck here and there.
