Taming the Beast: The Untold Story of Mike Tyson

Great read. Very Surprising.
I was very interested to read this book and see what it was about. I love Eric Wilson books and have read all of his novels. I wanted to read this his first memoir book. Second I remember growing up when Mike Tyson became the Heavyweight champion. I remembered the rise and his eventual fall in the sport. This is a memoir told in question and answer form. It goes behind the scenes with Mike Tysons friend and eventual manager. The book tells more of the story and fills in lots of details on what happened. It does have some language in Rory's answers as well. Rory holds nothing back in the story. It is a great book and I loved finding out more of what happened and not just what the media told you during this time. Eric Wilson does another fantastic job in bringing this memoir and story to life. You can really tell that just as in his novels that he really did his research and poured everything into this book. I know this isn't my typical book to read but I loved it and can't wait to see what Eric Wilson has in store in the future. This is a very open book and very detailed in its frankness and content. A great read that will help you learn more of what happened in these lives.

Poorly written
Rory & John were nothing more than Don King yes men. That so called biggest deal in boxing history was negotiated by King and only King. And it was a TERRIBLE deal for Tyson! Just research it. Sugar Ray had a great deal always by just using a lawyer. King got showtime fights, MGM stock options, upside PPV $, merchandise, AND % of what he paid Mike. Worst deal I’ve ever seen. Floyd Mayweathers deal was done to benefit the fighter, Rorys only other ventures were a failed resteraunt & a failed investment in a tech company of sorts. Atleast that i recall.

A good read.
Told by Mike Tyson's longtime manager. He addresses some of the stories regarding Team Tyson and the wild side of Mike's life. Wrote after Tyson's Undisputed Truth autobiography. A good read.
