BIC America PL-980L 3-Way Floor Speakers - Left (Black) -Each

Bought these speakers last year and they are simply amazing compared to the Pioneers, Kliptch, and Yamaha's I tried in stores. BIC America builds very high quality products, they just suck at marketing (not available in stores, dated packaging, but who cares, the products are great).Some tips:1) They do take a few days to break in and deliver their full range, so use them for a couple of hours a day at least.2) A major factor for the sound quality of any speakers is the room where they are placed. If the room is too small or there is a wall right behind where you sit, the sound can bounce and cause vibrations. So make sure they are not too close to walls or glass to get best results. Carpets and rugs in front of tower speakers help a lot, padded walls, paintings, curtains in the room significantly improve sound.3) For wiring, buy cables with built in "banana plugs", so you just plug and play without having to cut or twist wires.

All I can say is these speakers are amazing. I don't even need a separate sub. It has ample bass to shake my living room with some nice and tight rumbles. I would buy them again.Edit: right now, I'm getting no high on both of the speakers. They sound dead and muffle. I tested my amp with other speakers that I have and there's nothing wrong with my amp. These speakers started out great but last me a little more than a year. Disappointed!

I own two PL-980, five PL-28II, and four of the Formula Series FH6-LCR speakers. For the money these are among the best speakers on the market. Sure you can spend tens of thousands of dollars more to possibly get a fuller range of sound. But the Bic America speakers with sensitivity ratings all the way up to 98dB sound great. Playing old dvd movies I hear special effects, and background sounds I never heard before on these movies. I now am buying dvds just for that reason, and sometimes skipping over the 4k movies. I am replaying old movies now because the sound is much better simply by using these speakers.

The tweeter doesn't put out much sound, just some squiggly sounds. Other then that it sounds really well and distinguishes the sounds well.

Some of the smaller acoustech speakers sound good, but the PL-980 speakers are awful. They have horns in them that make almost no sound at all. When listening to music, eveything sounds muffled. After going back and forth with the seller and manufacturer, I was told that the crossover was set flat and that's why the horn put out almost no sound. I have had many speakers with horns in them. The horns normally produce clear, higher sounds in music and movies. I don't know why acoustech would put a horn in a speaker that does not play. Just leave the horn out. I could not recommend these speakers at all. Even cheap speakers sound better than these. After all the run around with support, I still could not return them because I would have had to pay a large restock fee. I'm not exaggerating, when I say the horn does not play... You can put your ear right up to it and crank the decibels wide open and almost hear nothing. That's how little the sound comes out.

They have only been hooked up and running for about 8 hours. As I did read in the reviews they do have a break in period. I'm assuming that is the situation with these. They sound so weak and hollow next to my polk monitor 70 that I've had for several years.I do have faith in them so I will be sure to put 40 or 50 hrs on them and post another review.The speakers look great and don't sound bad even out of the box but a very noticeable difference when played against my old and broken in speakers.

I have the BIC America PL-980 L&R pair.I have also incorporated 5 BIC Acoustech PL-28II Center Speakers as my Center, Surround side channel speakers, and surround back channel speakers. I have them all configured in a 7.2 channel system.Plenty of muscle. Smooth sounding. They sonically match for level sound. Perfect for balanced speaker dynamics, and tone. They sound as good, or better than speakers 2x-3x their cost.I would highly recommend getting these speakers.

These speakers are pure junk. no bass, no highs, distoration city. Been tested on several quality amps.
