Since I took photos and movies non-stop for a good 10 hours a day
Works as it should and arrived on time for my trip. I had two batteries on my trip, the original that came with my Canon underwater camera and this battery. I would charge both batteries overnight. Since I took photos and movies non-stop for a good 10 hours a day, I'd have to switch out my Canon battery mid-day for this battery. Did not have issues for the 4 weeks of my trip.

Good value
This Vivitar battery makes a good substitute for a Canon, as this one is much less expensive and seems to work well and hold a charge about the same as a Canon. The Vivitar seemed to me to have a much longer battery life than a generic battery I had previously used. When I am likely to shoot a lot of photos, I carry my original Canon plus 2 Vivitars.

Battery Falls Quite a bit short.
Battey Capacity is not accurate. It is listed as 1700mAh but my camera gets about a third less photos as it did (with the same settings) as the original 1060 mAh canon Battery. I expected a bit more with the Vivitar name.

Not as good as original but does the job at the right price
While battery life is considerably shorter than the original battery it was the right price & still gives a fairly lengthy battery life. Would recommend.

Ours Was Junk And Most Likely Capable Of Equipment Damage
No way is this 1700mAh @ 6.3 Watt hours! We're using it in a Canon PowerShot SX710 HS, mostly for macro imagery and video, (which is an exceptional P&S camera for this by the way).Forget about shooting ANY video with it. After roughly, 3 minutes and 15 seconds the battery side of the camera begins heating up - to the point you fear camera damage or catastrophic battery failure is right around the corner. Whether it was related or not, the second time it occurred, it was followed by a "card reading" error, and we had to use Nero recovery to access the work on the card. It's a top of the line, high-speed 95 mb/s card, and has never failed again since we quit using this battery.Since it's doing this in video shooting (continuous currant draw) or repeated image+flash mode, (likewise continuous drawing, as the camera is charging flash between shots) my guess is, there's a flaw or just bad design between the plates to terminals - or undersized internal circuitry?Same kind of problem that results from using an undersized extension cord and it heats up, conductor/component capacity is less than equipment draw?We waited on this review to be sure we were giving a thoroughly fair point of view - hopefully one that's as technically accurate as possible without actually tying in a mAh/current meter etc.. After thoroughly and fairly testing it for a month, side by side with both, the Canon NB-6LH, claiming to be: "[email protected] watt hours." and, a generic battery that came with the camera kit, which "claims" to be: "1450mAh @ 5.4Wh," - and Vivitar's claim of: "1700mAh @ 6.3 Watt hours" the latter winds up a no show. The smallest battery from Canon, lasts longer than both the others claiming to be larger/higher Wh's. By the way, I don't understand why they all push the mAh rating, when really, to test and determine the duration of the equipment's run-time, the Wh's. (watt hours) is much more useful and accurate measurement. This Vivitar is supposedly @ 6.3 watt hours. then the generic, @ 5.4, and finally Canon's @ 4.0 - yet the resulting run times are exactly opposite of what would be expected. This Vivtar will run roughly 14 minutes of 1080 video (in increments under 3 minutes, to avoid overheating) before camera warns of shutdown. The generic and Canon both run continuous lengths of 1080 video well over an hour, (more than we ever needed) in addition to endless numbers (hundreds+ probably thousands) of photos (without flash). The truth is, on a typical expedition to the forest, we never ran the generic or Canon batteries to the point the camera warned of a shutdown, but the Vivitar repeatedly went dead, sometimes before we really even got started . . JUNKIf your work is important to you, don't "depend" on only these when you walk out the door. Obviously, if you run into a rare species and get that once in a lifetime opportunity, there's nothing more frustrating then a flashing, "battery low" right as the critter is doing something exceptionally worthy of filming.Vivitar NB-6L / NB-6LH Ultra High Capacity 1700mAh Li-ion Replacement Battery for Select Canon Digital CamerasYes, we may well have simply gotten a lemon, but I see lots of reviews popping up stating the similar or worse problem(s). In the very least, it's terrible quality control of the Chinese manufactured battery - but then, that's how the communist country wants things to go down in our country.Understand, this is not the Californian - "Vivitar" - who once brought the U.S. great camera equipment from Japan, Germany and elsewhere? Now it's part of the vile One World disOrder of grab-bag-Chinese junkities. While your paycheck's taxes are "un-representably" used to give China breaks on import fees, etc., making competing with them, nigh impossible, hence U.S. manufacturers have no choice but to fire/lay off working families. Then of course, without pointing to that fact, democrats can say, "capitalism is cronyism" . . . and . . . it's because of, "the big bad greedy republicans."Likewise, your "personal expenditures" that you spend out of necessity and or enjoyment, go towards making more worthless Chinese products by Chinese manufacturers who thumb their noses at the environmental agreements they signed with every ignoramus democrat-communist president since Carter. So - China gets the breaks on fees and import/export deals by our un-representing presidents, and you're told, we're the environmental greedy pigs who need to pour out more of your paycheck dollars to clean up the environment that China refuses to pay for, much less take responsibility for. Thus, we get the global warming "crisis" and threats, further crammed down our throats, and we get blamed for it all because our ignoramus president is busy spending billions of dollars, traveling the world, telling everyone, it's all our fault, and apologizing on our behalf. You know, because of the "greedy, war mongering" republicans and our ancestors "Colonialism" policies.Meanwhile, as the toxins of China keep billowing into the atmosphere unchecked, and plundering back to earth the blame is always on us.But who am I to talk, I bought this stupid, worthless battery (like many of you will) and as long as that's how we continue acting - the day the Communist Flag is flying over the capital and on every porch, we can all look in the mirror and honestly say, "we did this" - because we did!

Great value; works as it should.
Replaced a dead original Canon battery and has worked with no issues! For the money, it's a heck of a value. I don't understand why a cleaning cloth is packaged with it; it makes the whole thing seem like more of a novelty/junk than it is... but the battery is solid.
