The Sacred Power of Huna: Spirituality and Shamanism in Hawai'i

I took this book with me on my trip to Hawaii and it changed the sentiment of our trip entirely. Instead of exploring the beautiful landscapes of the Hawaiian Islands, the author helped me to see magic in the mountains, life in the lava, wisdom in the hula. I didn't feel like a tourist, I felt like I belonged. Thank you so much for writing this book and sharing your knowledge of such a unique culture.

Wow! I bought this about 3 or 4 yrs. or more ago I'm still reading it. It's good reading. It makes me think. That's why it's taken me so long to read. I first started reading it while sitting in the hospital while my husband was in surgery. I almost lost him. So in really hard times I start reading it again. and again. It's like God hears and speaks to me through this book.

This books is amazing - seriously. I read it during my first of many yoga and shaman trainings. Very eye opening. When I returned to the Big Island in 2014 I saw it in a totally new light.

Morrell is a sweet writer and has a very insightful view of Polynesian culture. She has traveled Hawaii as a camper and studied the language at a Ph.D. level. She shares Hawaiian mysteries with us as an intellectual and as a participant which is refreshing and charming. Anyone who is interested in magic, healing, Shamanism or todays cross-cultural understandings of spirituality will enjoy and benefit from this book.

This provided me with an insightful appreciation of Huna in preparation for a special gathering taking place on Big Island in mid-August, 2017.

Reads like a high school essay

I know of this power. A view of the world that most people never see. Too many people are stuck in their physical life and know nothing of the spiritual reality. This book can help you attain that.

Good. A little wordy. If you are familiar with Huna pass on it. If not, it's a good beginning for you.

This is a really nice book on the power of Huna. It is beautifully written and prepares you with a lot of insight on Huna and Hawaii. I enjoyed reading it a lot!

Well written but not quite what I was expecting...
