THIS is the one to get, not the plastic model
After my diverter jammed for the second time, I went to the hardware store and bought a Danco for cheap. Slip fit, easy install, no problem. Except I cannot for the life of me figure out how that set screw does anything, and I'm an engineer. Lo and behold the slip fit wore out within a year and it kept shooting off in the middle of showers. Not fun.Enter the search on Amazon for a good one. I found the other popular Moen, but the reviews said it was plastic instead of metal. Not for me. This model, however, had the same awesome reviews, especially the part about the screw clamp, but was metal for not much more money. Trust me it's worth it. Get one-day shipping and plan your alternate showers accordingly for the next day or so.Install was simple, just requires the right size hex key wrench. I needed a bit of silicone caulk around the spout as well since it still had a bit of a gap due to the way it tightened on my copper pipe, but your results may vary.Operation is super smooth, and mine even reverts when the water is turned off. Will update if anything changes!

Sometimes only the real part will do
I tried replacing an old Moen spout that was installed along with the house when it was built back in 1996, thanks to the diverter having gone bad a long time ago and making a horrible squealing noise during showers if anybody turned any other water on (and sometimes even when they didn't). I had used an aftermarket "universal" part from Home Depot which had an overly complicated multiple part adapter to get it to go onto the smooth slip-on copper pipe, but that one was needlessly difficult, didn't form a seal (leaked all over the place very badly) and then just about ruined the copper pipe when I was trying to take it back off.I gave up on that and went with the real Moen which was more or less the same as the original part, just a slight step up in attractiveness. This one installed with no trouble whatsoever, and apart from a very slight leakage most likely caused by the damage from the universal one (it left grooves in the copper that I couldn't completely sand out), it's working well. The new diverter is great after having spent years listening to the loud noise and watching the water running through the spout while the shower is on.I'm only marking this down a bit because the overall value is not ideal. There is no reason this part should cost so much. The aftermarket ones which are made with similar quality materials and only problematic in the design rather than the construction are SO much cheaper that I am confident this one is marked up a whole lot and could be sold for much less. I wouldn't expect it to be priced right with the generic parts but it also doesn't need to be 4 times as expensive. Twice as much would still be an improvement. My rating demotion seems appropriate to the overpricing. Otherwise, good part, and when the other tub spout needs replacing I guess I'll have to just buy this overpriced but quality part again.

It’s top quality OEM Moen metal Chrome slip on metal spout. Perfect‼️
I have a builder grade condo that I am DIYinng (newbie) while I pay mortgage off 10 years early. I decided to “use what I got” to climb Barbara Corcoran and was able to fine the exact Moen bathroom fixtures needed w/o hiring a plumber. This was the higher end version (100% metal) but Moen but the item is an exact match (builder used chrome plated plastic so i bought that version here last month for 2nd bathroom) to slip onto the copper pipe and tighten with an Allen wrench. I purchased a white foam backed metal chrome circular plate that slips onto pipe before slipping spout and it looks awesome and with small amount of silicon around seam prevents water from sneaking in over time much better than without it (cause of this “Reno” was 25 years of water sneaking behind tile surround due to shabby craftsmanship by tiler around plumbing that eventually caused tiles, Sheetrock and “shelf” at foot of tub due to poor measurements by builder so created “shelf” to make up difference between wall to wall and length of tub that shares a hall wall w/bathroom pocket door! What seemed a weekend fix became more than a month but no complaints here. I’m proud and these Moen manufactured bathroom and plumbing chrome fixtures truly looks professional even at this stage (have 2 more days of this and that while last (5th) coat of Rust-oleum Tub and tile refinishing kit white.

DID NOT FIT MY MOEN TUB SPOUT
We have a MOEN shower /tub. Its held up well The chrome is very good. After about 20 years the spout shut off is somewhat weak. So we tried to replace it. The connection is not the same type. The length and everything else is identical but the method of connection is different and leaks. So we had to return it.

So easy to install
This tub spout was easy to install. It looks great as a replacement for an older Moen spout that was not working very well anymore. All I had to do was slip it on the pipe from the wall and then tighten the screw at the back to keep it nice and tight. I turned on the water and there were no leaks so then I pulled the water stopper to start the shower and boom, shower comes right on. A great product for a good price. I highly recommend if you have to replace your tub spout.

Should of just got this to start with
Super simple to install. I paid a little less for a Danco at the store, and it worked fine for the one I replaced. Then I got this one for the other tub/shower, and it’s definitely better. The way it holds onto the pipe is sturdier and uses an allen screw which makes it easier to snug up. The other one I had was just a phillips head screw that holds the spout in place. More difficult to get that one as snug. Wish I didn’t throw out the packaging for that one. Should’ve just purchased two of these. Lesson learned, spend a little more and get something better. This took about a minute to install and works great.
